An excellent thread i have been waiting for.
living in suburbs of karachi, my daily drive is atleast 60km just from work back to home.
currently i am driving a 660cc which i think for a bachelor like me is an excellent choice for now.
i would definitely love to switch to a hybrid in future (civic or prius) but the thing is i highly doubt our local mechanics would be able to learn the technicalities of these highly advanced vehicles in next five to ten years. karachi roads as well as the markets are flooded with hybirds currently but the real success of these cars can not be assured for the next 3 years atleast.
even my 660 cc (daihatsu mira 2007) had issues in the recent monsoon season, i wonder if the hybrid owners even drove their vehicle during the rains.

@doctor husnain Fuel average of Prius 2nd generation 2004-2009 around 20-25km .Its a good car with the fuel economy, its handling ,performance plus all the options this car has got it is far better then altis .The down side is our mechanics don't know much about it.Maybe Lahore Toyota service center is providing some sort of facility.

Brother, I have a colleague in university who bought prius one and a half year back he has 2005 prius, he drove it arround 1lac km, he is from karachi and most of his trips were from karachi to islamabad by the road. Now a days his car is giving him serious problems. He is unable to start the car in the morning, have to jump start it, he has changed the 12v battery, but no use. Also his car does not run with air conditioner, does not accelerate well, because high voltage battery is not working. He is trying to find out a new battery, somebody is offering him to import a used battery for Rs 1,50000. He is well aware of places in karachi as well as in Islamabad. But still he failed to replace his car's high voltage batteries. Due to Eid getting nearer, now he is forced to buy new city, I took him to Honda centre and showed him the new city, he is still thinking on tat. Should I buy 2007 Prius after all this going on in front of me. NEVER........

And talking about the luxuries the new car, then why not opt for new civic, or any upmodel luxury car without hybrid system. Why a person should care about 1 or 2 lac of saving in 7 years when he is spending 17 to 19 lac on luxuries and things like tat.

But the fact is that Prius is a craze in Japan and it is the best selling car in Japan since 2009 and its sales are so much that even the nearest rival(Honda fit) sells 1.4 times less than prius and after the launch of Prius hatchback(Toyota Aqua/prius c) the two cars hold the first and second position in Japan and the sales of both cars added is an astonishing 50,000 cars a month(Best Selling Cars ? . Worldwide sales of prius are increasing day by day and the twin prius sisters are in top 15 cars sold worldwide which shows the trend of sales the worldover of people switchng and loving the hybrids.

one is in pearl white S-package 10th anniversary edition ( cruise control, auto park, blue tooth , HDD navigation , beige interior)
other one is Simple version and colour is white.

suggest me which oil, plug and filter?

engine is same as toyota axio 1500cc n premio 1500cc get everything oem filter n oem plugs...for engine oil go for synthetic any reputable brand 5w30 or 5w40 which can be driven upto 7k-8k km

Jump start means. Connecting the 12V batteries of hybrid with the 12V batteries of another car with wires. It didn't fried any thing brother. He used my old 98 civic to start his prius hehehe

That is because they change there cars usually after 5 years. And for those 5 years these cars are really economical. And then they get almost same resale price as much they get with usual non-hybrid cars, as we fools buy there used cars. The reason for success of Prius is not just that which you mentioned, Prius is there since 2000 and millions of Prius have been sold whereas its total import in Pakistan would be not more than few thousand(not more than 4 to 5000 so far) and that too in last one year, before that it was almost negligible. It is the car's technology and reliability which has made it so popular.

Yes you can, My colleague does it daily. Atleast till the day he gets his prius's high voltage batteries replaced. What I understood from these experiences is that, no doubt this new technology is great, its very very fuel efficient, BUT THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO GET THERE BATTERIES REPLACED AFTER COUPLE OF THOUSAND MILES. This technology would have been also very beneficial for us, if we were getting these cars as brand new. But they have already passed there glorius time and now they are at the brink of there period when lots of things need replacement, thats why they start selling it. (WELL THAT IS WHAT I THINK, AND I KNOW MANY PEOPLE, SPECIALLY PRIUS OWNERS WOULD NOT LIKE TO AGREE WITH ME)

Brother only when sentence for you, DONT COMPARE SUCCESS OF PRIUS IN THE WORLD, WITH SUCCESS IN PAKSIATAN. Because we are getting used cars, WORLD IS GETTING THEM BRAND NEW. I would be the first buyer of this car, id toyota company in pakistan launches prius
