Here's a short review after driving an Alto for almost 2 years.
In 2 years of driving on petrol only, the car had no starting problems, whether summer or winter months. I had read about starting problems, self-starter, but no problems. The only expense was the company provided battery which collapsed after 10 months or so. I had upgraded the spark plugs, so I get exceptional pickup and torque. Minor sounds from the radiator, gets fixed at oil changes intervals, the technician tightens the radiator attachments. There was a gear seal leak but that was replaced under the warranty. Once a parking bulb fused and that is about it. It drives well, no road-grip issues, maybe it is because of Dunlop SP Sports tyres. Ac or heater is a charm, just turn it on any moment and get the required air.
Now, the negatives. I tried my best driving, but I am getting a petrol average of 8 to 9 km/s liter withing the city. Now, it is only 997cc and I am not happy with the petrol average. I guess it is a carby engine, hence the inefficient fuel management. I am planning to sell it soon and can't decide between a cultus or swift. Fuel economy is a priority and I don't want to shift to a JDM.
