    Default ELECTRIC CARS IN PAKISTAN........................

WHY DON´T WE START IMPORTING ELECTRIC CARS TO PAKISTAN. THEY COULD BE A GREAT SUCCESS ESPECIALLY FOR DOMESTIC DAILY USE ..DRIVING KIDS TO SCHOOL GOING TO WORK, SHOPING, ETC. ETC. .....
I HAVE USED A CITROEN BERLINGO AND IT CAN GO FOR ABOUT 140 KMS ON A SINGLE CHARGE AND IT A PRETTY BIG AND A LOT OF SPACE BOTH FOR THE PASSENGERS AND BAGGAGE AS WELL. ....ZERO POLUTION DIRECT FROM THE CAR OTHER THAN THE PRODUCTION OF ELECTRICITY BUT OTHERWISE ITS A PERFECT SOLUTION TO A POLUTION FREE ENVIROMENT.

Hybrid would be a better option then a vehicle needing electrical charging.

YES THE TOYOTA HYBRID IS A GOOD OPTION
BUT THE ELECTRIC DOES NOT NEED MUCH CHARGING ITS SAME AS GHARGING A MOBILE, YOU COULD ALWAYS BORROW A CONECTION WHILE VISITING A FRIEND...

If its charging time and power consumption is less, then its a great deal. Why not go for solar cars?

Here one Indian company is already producing its electric car which was developed locally. It has been in the market for atleast 6-7 years and still able to survive coz there is a small market for such cars in India. Driving schools and local Police departments are its main buyers.

THE CITROEN BELINGO IS NOT VERY EXPENSIVE ..ITS CHEAPER THAN A COROLLA AND CHARGING TIME IS NOT SO LONG.AS I UNDERSTAND IT DOES NOT CONSUME MUCH ELECTRICITY TO CHARGE EITHER.

IN SWEDEN MOST OF THE GOVT. DEPARTMENTS USE THESE FOR LOCAL DUTY AND THEY HAPPEN TO BE RUNNING FINE.

THE BIGGEST ADVANRAGE BEING THAT THERE IS NO SMOKE OR POLLUTION CREATED BY THEM. THEY ARE AN EXCELLANT FOR DOMESTIC IN CITY USE. mOST OF US USE A CAR TODAY ON SHORT IN CITY TRIPS ..TO SCHOOL ..TO WORK ...SHOPPING ... AND SO ON. THE PERFECT ANSWER TO SHORT TRIP USE.

IF ONLY I KNEW HOW MUCH WAS THE DUTY ON SUCH A CAR I MIGHT BRING ONE TO PAKISTAN AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

Try Gujranwala Motors (it's an independent reseller of new and imported cars). They have a magnificent showroom and workshop operation that makes you feel like you've arrived at a full service dealership in Dubai. I've heard that they've sold a recently imported 2nd hand hybrid (petrol-electric) in the body style of the vitz/platz. If they get enough inquiries they may be willing to import more to fulfill market demand. Try calling them at: 055-670-7111. Ask for Fahad.

However...do keep in mind that the batteries have a life of around 3 years, and will be expensive to replace.

Well as for the battries ..citroen sells a battery insurance and they replace them for free once they wear out. The berlingos use two motorola batteries and The last one I owned was a 1999 model without any problems to the batteries.
