Hi. Everyone,I had a question in my mind this morning that, which one is better in the sense of durability, better drive, price and dependability, the good old Stepny or the modern-good looking alloy rims ???(A)
durability - nothing beats a steel wheel. it will take severe beating where an alloy will crack.
correct alloywheels should be light weight - that way it will reduce unsprung weight and have the car control and track better.
^exactly.
and the alloys we get here are just trash anyway, this chinese crap sometimes weighs more than the steel counterparts
Then I think the alloys are a serious threat in racing and off-road adventures? As we are now usually getting chinese alloy-rims and they're not durable, they can eventually cause an accident?
Does anyone know if an accident (Allah forbid) has happened due to bad alloy rims or caused damage to the vehicle?
OEM Alloys in Cars like Accord,Civic,MarkX and many more is sign that Alloys haven't any drawback!!
we are not discussing the OE alloys, we are discussing the regular chinese rubbish that is being sold at "uff lash pash tyre shops around the cities"
OEM wheels can crack under extreme loads. But Chinese made wheels are notorious for cracking or breaking under competitive conditions. Fake wheels will always have a less load rating.
@supraman2jz thanks for sharing the pics man. How can a normal guy distinguish about between a good quality alloy rim and the 2 number chinese ones? You know in that our brothers in Pakistan are very good in selling you 2 number convincing you it's 1 number.
finding new branded alloy wheels in Pakistan is impossible now, unless you get them yourself.
the ling ho- chong doo, uloodapata rims you see hanging at these extreme bling shops are ALL the cheapest chinese and indian garbage. People in Pakistan pay for shaskha (aka bling) they dont care about quality at all.
wat about the oem ones on oriel n altis?
im one of those drivers who donest mind diffirent pair in front and back, but it has to be branded.
the spare tire issue:if yr driving far away from tire shops, its better to put a proper wheel or 2 in spare. dont rely on those yellow little things called spare tires.
i think the best alloys in pakistan are the ones that u get secondhand branded at tyreshops and bilal gunj. i was fortunate to see bugatti rims in bj. that stuff is the real deal. otherwise only branded rims like enkie etc are good
what about 'lenso' ? they are catching fame.
But what about Karachi? Where do u get original Rims in Karachi, and if anyone can name specific shops it'll be great !
old rim places like shershah. some rim shops also have them - but they are very rare.
How would a new person to cars like me can distinguish between the original product and the 2 number thingy?
+1
