TDCP 7th Cholistan Jeep Rally 2012, Pakistan's Biggest Motorsports Event

Time : Thursday, February 16th at 12.00AM Until Sunday, February 19th at 10:30PM.

Cost : 10500 Per Person

Bahawalpur - Cholistan This adventure is an unique experience, where we visit the Cholistan Desert riding on camel-back and spending nights under the open sky and enjoy Everlasting Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally.

Day 01:
Early Morning Start from Lahore, and Faisalabad Via Bahawalpur, for Lal Sohanra National Park. First Visit Channan Pir Mela. After visit travel onward to Lal Sohanra Safari Park. Free time to visit Park. Night stay in Tents.

Day 02:
At Morning drive to Bahawalpur and Visit Old bazaar and Noor Mahal after lunch continue drive to Uch Sharif. A famous 13th century centre for Islamic learning and literature. It is an ancient town with a distinctive traditional architecture.After visit Panjand evening drive to Derawar village. Night stay in Tents.

Day 03:

Camel Riding - Derawar We will Start our strange adventure of camel riding at Derawar, a place known for its huge building of an impressive old fort, a marble mosque and tombs of royal family of Bahawalpur. The huge fort stands on top of a ruined city of the mature Harrappan civilization that spans a period between 2500 to 1500 BC Cholistan is also the site of the dried up Haqra River, which used to run parallel to the Indus Another colorful night to enjoy with our staff, when they perform dances, sings etc.

Day 04:
Most adventurous day of the tour to live watch Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally. Evening drive back to home.

I plan on going for the race day. Rest of it doesn't interest me. So i'm planning on leaving on Saturday 18th, be there for race day 19th, see the closing ceremony & head back on 20th inshAllah.

Anyone who wants to tag along is most welcome. Going in a convoy would be good.

P.s. My car load is full with 4 ppl.

Good move.....but I suggest you leave a day earlier and watch the 'qualifyings' as they are much more fun to witness! The race day itself isn't that exciting once the cars flag off.....trail of dust and no visible action!
Anyway, have a ball!

But your suggestion is worth pondering upon. So you suggest we come back sunday or should we stick for race day too.
I hear the closing ceremony is good & worth seeing. Apart from that there's nothing of interest to do there. I'd rather spend time at Derawar than go to BWP.
BTW, can we pitch our tent there and hang out or do we need to make prior arrangements with someone ? Any clue or suggestion on that.

Closing ceremony is total crap, avoid it unless you are getting a trophy;)!
No need to go to Bwp......pitch your tents 3-4 kms away from the main fort area (which will be immensely crowded) farther in the desert ....take your own food and cooking apparatus....no prior arrangements are required as the desert is wide and open! Head back Sun morning by 1000hrs after all the big guns have flagged off ....you would be comfortably back home before midnight!

i plan on leaving around the same time, though i was thinking if we leave around 5 then we should be there before sunset. just to be on the safe side for setting up camps and all.

It is true
Qualifying is more fun. It is ~ 2Km track & if u r positioned at right place u get it all.
But for that one has to be there @0730 hrs i.e. Saturday.
So Libra, Me & a couple of others are scheduled to leave Karachi on Friday 0300 hrs. Shall camp at night there & see the qualifying & other events next day.
Inshallah shall hit the road back home at 1100 hrs on Sunday

If you are travelling on a 4x4, take the Rahimyar Khan - Cholistan route, about 140kms is paved road and about 25kms is sand track.

We will camp about 5 to 8 kms from the starting point, just few feet from the track.
Leaving Friday 3am and back around midnight Sunday, InshAllah.

We are 5 in Pajero and Lovebikes is on his bike:)
