- what would be an estimated or actual cost of army auctioned FJ40 frame with auction vouucher, need the frame only.
Should be around PKR 125k with voucher and around 35k without one.
- people have been extending the length of these frame which seems to be possible in our country, is it possible to increase the width as well?
Generally when it comes to jeeps and FJ40s, yes you can alter length and width of the frame. The important bit on the FJ40 is the punched number near front right (or is it left) wheel arch and on the jeeps either the hand punched (by Pak Army) number somewhere in the front (on cross member???) on older Jeeps or a small plate on the firewall on some CJ5s/7s. Anyways with older jeeps, messing with the frame is not really a problem by itself.
- Most import concern - What is the procedure for registration of this local converted jeeps with fabricated bodies i.e. conversions from CJ's to Wranglers etc? As above the registration takes place before these mods and is there any additional tax to be paid for these body mods/ conversions? Some say that these are locally fabricated bodies and there's noting to be paid related to conversion or body swap in some cases.
Registration is usually done once everything is completed and there aren't any taxes as such on conversions that I am aware of. You have to take the car for inspection as they would not really register a chassis by itself. I wouldn't lose too much sleep on this as long as you are genuinely using an auctioned frame .....
