Default @Xulfiqar & other experts Help! 2004 Honda Accord Tranmission Jerks at certain speeds

I have upgrade from 1999 Honda Accord, to 2004 Honda Accord, both Auto Transmission and 4 cyl. The transmission jerks like crazy, and shakes the whole car violently, when speed reaches 35mph and then again when speed reaches 45 Mph. The jerking goes away when I press the accelerator. I don't know what is wrong with the car, although it has 100K plus mileage, and it works just fine at all other speeds. The engine is smooth, and there is nothing wrong with the car otherwise.

I have researched the issue on google, some people suggest Transmission Torque Converter might be bad and whole transmission needs to be changed. Some suggest EGR issue (Exhaust Gas Recycle), where EGR valve gets stuck by carbon deposits and needs to be cleaned, I don't think that is the case but in that case the Engine would also idle rough, which is not the case.

Any suggestions, Xulfiqar Bhai, or anyone who has this model year Accord. I am seriously thinking about selling it, AS IS, and I only owned it for 1 month and am already tired of it. Thanks in advance for all your help.

    1. Vibration at certain speed is caused by un balanced wheels.
    2. Transmission can produce noise or slip but that would cause your RPM to fluctuate
    3. Pull out the dipstick of your car and see what color is transmission fluid is.

check your mounts especially gear mount. the way you have explained the problem does not look to be transmission issue

transmission jerks = slips and flares?

    OR

    transmission jerk = engine misfire?

    OR

transmission jerk = harsh and uncontrolled shift?

Thanks for replies brothers, Zulfiqar bhai, when car reaches speed of 35 or 45 it suddenly starts to jerk, like choking and engine about to stall, maybe its misfiring, and sometimes if I keep the speed constant at 45 mph, the shaking/ jerking stays for good 4 or 5 seconds and it goes away, you can feel the gear trying to move up or down to stabilize or take the car out of jerking, it only happen at these two speeds... I tried fuel injector cleaners, the trans fluid is brownish color and level is good, any help would be appreciated.

Another thing is RPM stays steady so I don't thinks it the engine, and engine sound is very smooth, I also have 2006 camry and accords engine is quieter than the camry's. The gear shifts at all other speeds are also very smooth. I suspect gear shifting from 3 to 4 at 35mph and overdrive shift at 45mph may be issue with the higher gears....maybe something completely different. I tried searching the web not much help there, mechanic guy I bought car from says use fuel injector cleaner which I did but problem is still there.

if you are complaining of rumbling or rough effect on converter lockup (approx 40 mph) then you need to verify that you can replicate this symptom over and again. The remedy is an ATF change.

if you are complaining of the engine bucking then do a full engine tune check, fuel pressure, MAP signal, ignition failure etc. Sometimes this happens due to bad spark plugs.

Legend has it, that some of those lawnmowers were modified with a seat and a wing spoiler, by some 4 odd British teams over the decade of 1983-93.
A Brazilian Clown even managed to bargain his share of two bit fame, more than a couple of times, out of those puny things.

This might be a Off-topic question, but I am curious,
OP, do you really live in Antarctica? How is it there? Do the Polar Bears scare you?
Turbo lag is like foreplay. You know it's coming. And it's gonna be good.

@Xulfiqar, thanks for pointing me to right direction, it happens almost every time at same speed. I will replace ATF and see if that helps, the puzzling part is that trransmission is really smooth at all other speeds, except at 35 and 45, yesterday it even did it at 55 just once, so something is moving in transmission, maybe some debris in old trans oil, causing trouble in that gear range.

@faiz, I live in Michigan US, it is just as cold as antarctica during winters, specially winter of this year which broke all snow records since 1870s when they started keeping temp records

@afnan, thanks, at first I also suspected tire issue, I used to have tire related shaking issue with another car, in this case the shaking feels different, shaking is not in the steering wheel as typically happens in case of tires wheel balance issue. Plus shaking / vibration is different strength, sometimes barely noticeable sometimes the whole car jerks, and goes away when I press gas pedal. Plus shaking is never there if I accelerate quickly to 50mph, but due to traffic can not always push car to 50mph, the common driving speed on local roads here is between 40 and 45mph.
