Overview: Brother, the built is bomb proof, the European variant was declared the Best Car in Australia and its top of the line version came equipped with amenities not found on the latest cars today. But there were various versions, 2004 onwards ones mostly were imported with high end features, some of which came with moonroof, UV filtered windows, Vehicle Stability Assist, dual air conditioning, full leather seats, cruise control, electric heated seats with electric height adjustment, rain sensors, full touch screens working out air conditioning and engine diagnostics etc. Honda was reported to have paid unprecedented attention to detail, its front console resting behind the handbrake contains an in built pen and card holder, and the engineers worked out the doors so that they stay open even when parked on a tilt, while illuminating the ground where you can find your feet.... they even worked on exactly how the door sounded when opening and closing, working towards the ultimate driving experience.
Maintenance: The engine and build are one of the most reliable across different manufacturer's attempts, but it is not an eco box, it is luxurious from inside and sporty to drive, so expect to pay a premium for maintaining it. That being said, since this car demands a premium to maintain, do not be surprised to see a few people wanting to own the car but wishing to maintain it like a cultus.
Ownership: Fortunately, due to its popularity and timeless design and features, it still commands a strong presence on the road... and all parts are easily available locally or if you want more options, just Google and they is a world of aftermarket manufacturers that design accessories and replacement parts for this car.
Comparison: The C180 and 3 series when compared to the top of the line variants of the Accord from those years do not have the same performance figures, features and reliability ratings. THAT is what brought the accord to the next level, it sits somewhere between the 3 series and 5 series from that era, current comparisons are debatable. There is not a better car to buy within the 2 million mark if you want a daily driver which can put a smile on your face. It certainly makes you feel special.
Buyers Advice 1: Relevant to your possible purchase, there is the CL7, CL9, CL7 Euro R, CL9 Type S and some more variants for the UK and Japan. All engine are K series, except for the diesel variant, tough and high revving counters which do not die easily. However, each version comes with a different engine or a different setup with similar engines. Additionally, the difference between a basic and a top of the line version is comparable to the difference between a 3 and 5 series, C and E class, Prado and LandCruiser, Land Rover and Range Rover. It is not just a simple case of XLI to Altis, the basic Accord is well equipped, while some variants would come with 6-8 airbags, different suspension and 50 additional horses in the stock engine.
Buyers Advice 2: Karachi cars need to be checked thoroughly for rust and what not. Additionally, a price tag of 11,25,000 is along the lines of an accident-Ed, suspicious papers version. Some people consider themselves lucky for having bought a 4 million land cruiser for 2 million, only to end up realizing that beyond looks, there is nothing land cruiserish about their purchase. Now for an imported car, Accords are a good long term bet, they have a strong and well deserved fan base and will function relentlessly, but if looking to keep a car temporarily..just remember... going for cheap beef risks eating donkey meat.
Bottom Line:There are always buyers out there looking for a quality car, at 11,25,000 you are not going to be able to attract true car enthusiasts, just the limited budget lot.... which is a harder sell to market in some ways.... but at that price, you never know, it is a good project car prospect if not accident-Ed or with questionable papers. If you wish to own an accord but can not spend 11,25,000, you would be better served by a CF3, previous accord, but if your heart wishes to flirt despite the dangers of STDs, enjoy the car and whatever features it has to offer.
