KARACHI (December 14 2007): Thai Airways International has announced to launch its 'Tokyo Express,' terming it as the fastest air travel service from Pakistan to Japan offered by any airline operating in the country. Thai Airways General Manager for Pakistan Kittiphong announced this, while addressing a press conference at a local hotel on Thursday.
He said that the Tokyo Express would operate from Karachi and Lahore simultaneously. The flight would take off from Karachi at 11:55 pm and arrive in Bangkok the next day to continue its flight onward with immediate connection at 08:20 am and finally touch Tokyo at 04:00 pm the same day, he added.
"The total travel time consume would be 12 hours and five minutes with only one intermediate stop in Bangkok, including transit time in Bangkok. Lahore passenger can benefit from the service in the same flight pattern from Lahore," he maintained.
He, further, said that the passengers could also enjoy the return trip through the fastest service by Thai Airways from Tokyo to Karachi and Lahore via Bangkok. Apart from Tokyo, Thai Airways was also serving three more destinations in Japan, including Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka, he added.
He claimed that the Tokyo Express would serve the business community of both the countries with convenient and efficient air route. "Japan is one of the biggest business partners of Pakistan and approximately 7,000 passengers from Pakistan travelled to Tokyo in 2006, 1,700 from Karachi and 1,800 from Lahore," he maintained.
Briefing about his company's profile, Kittiphong said that Thai Airways International, found in 1960, was the national carrier of Thailand, serving 74 destinations in 35 countries around the world. He said that the Thai had over 25,000 employees and a total of 90 aircraft in its fleet.
He said that the Thai Airways was among the first airlines to have certified 'Halal' foods on board and recently received 2007 world's best first class lounge award from Skytrax. He said that the Thai was one of the founding members of Star Alliance, the airline network for earth.
