Hi Guys!

Just got the price confirmation of the new Altis 2011.

Gli with Auto Transmission = 1679000
Altis Manual Transmission = 1709000
Altis MT SR= 1809000
Altis Auto Transmission= 1809000
Altis AT SR= 1899000

freight 14000 will be added on top of each price.
Gli with AT sounds good to me.

So Toyota Indus replaced the more powerful 1.8 engine with 1.6 and removed tiptronic transmission and still the car is priced at same level and still people will buy it like crazy

Already GLi is so underpowered and they have again loaded it with the AT tranny which will again make it more less responsive.

1ZR-FE 1.6 dual VVTi is has almost same power like 1ZZ-FE 1.8 with low displacment, add some more fuel economy & its not underpower.

What about Atils 1.8 prices?????i know they have stoped production of 1.8,leikin unke stock mein jo hain unka kiya?

1ZZ produce 130hp single VVTi, 1ZR 124hp Dual VVTi, slightly difference, but Gli is 1.3 2NZ.

ppl complaining ...even 1.3 to be under power ...plz dont think that its a sports car

a car can pull in 2nd gear from a u turn with 5 passenger inside t

a car which can do 130 or 140 very easily...

its not under powered ...its just some 1 is looking for extra kick.....

mention the source plz......now few showroom ppl saying 1.8 is still there but auto only...few say 1.6 now...few say gli will be replaced by 1.6 with auto and altis will keep 1.6 and 1.8 both

nothing is clear what r they up to

but price tag for a 1.6 altis is very high......

As for a matter of fact, the performance of GLi's 1300cc proves to be a turn off when we compare its fuel economy with the Altis. On highway, if Gli gives 15, then Altis gives 14.5 and the same percentage of difference is seen in intra city driving. Thus any sane person can conclude that Gli is actually giving a bad name to the word "affordable" vis-a-vis Altis.

Even a Mehran can pull 5 passengers from a u-turn in "2nd" gear that too on CNG. Its no big deal. Its all about the timing of clutch.

If Gli is not a sports car, then its not an fuel efficient family sedan aswell. Or there is still any other category left which suits the needs of a daily runner?

what is the purpose of the car if it doesnt gives a decent performance atleast,,chalo np if gli is underpowered but should be fuel efficient,i was coming with my cozin from sukkur to quetta in gli.we were 3 passengers,trunk was loaded.the car didnt have enough power to go more then 2nd gear in bolan hilly areas,whereas i always travel there with my altis in 3rd to 4th gear easily,and in the end when we calculated the petrol average it was 12.4km/l and on other hand i get 14km/l minimum from altis when visiting from my village to quetta.

1.8 Altis engine has been detuned to 130HP (its original figures are 140HP) and why is everyone forgetting torque figures? As far as 124HP v/s 130HP is concerned, all I will say is that lets hit the road and see for yourself the difference between 1.8 and 1.6

For those talking about improved fuel economy with 1.6, sorry but you are living in a fools paradise. Civics iVTEC gives 8.5km/ltr (prosmatec) max in city while 1.8 Altis Cruisetronic gives 9.5-10km/ltr in city and 14 km/ltr on highway. Se Saloon Auto 1.6 used to give 8.5-9km/ltr in city. There is no way the new dual vvti would be able to give better fuel economy than current 1.8 Altis. I gave figures for iVTEC civic solely for the purpose so that you guys know that dual vvti is not some out of this world solution.

Frankly for me, there is no comparison b/w 1.6 Altis and 1.8 civic. I would take the civic anyday. Previously it was 1.8 Altis for me. The real joy in driving a corolla is the torquey drive at low rpms. When you go for smaller displacement you lose that advantage vis-a-vis 1.8 civic
