Company Price of your Car: X
F.E.D: 2.5%
G.S.T: 17%
Total Control Price of your Car: 693,000 (Suzuki Alto)

Thus,

X+0.025X+0.17X = 693,000

1.195X = 693,000

X = 693,000/1.195

X = 579,916

Since F.E.D has been removed and G.S.T has been reduced to 16% in a new budget (effective 1st july 2011), new control price of your car will be:

Company price * 16% G.S.T

Similarly, in the case of Alto as in example above the new control price will be:

X * 1.16 = 672,703

For those who are not good with Maths:

Simply Divide Current Control price of your Car by 1.195 and then Multiply with 1.16 to get new control price of your Car.

(Current Control price of your Car/1.195)*1.16 = new Control price of your Car

As a matter of fact yes, second hand cars prices would (and should) decrease but i am not certain, Allah knows best.

a very informative formula shared.. well thanks for sharing it.. and i applied for corolla xli 2011 which i am going to get on may be 6 or 7 July, they told me that the price of xli is reduced aprrox 40k 9 hundred something..and the same result is achieved by following ur formula.
