PSO to introduce new brand ‘E-10’

KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil will introduce a new brand of petrol ‘E-10’ in the next week here, the price of which will be less by Rs1.5 per litre than the current petrol price.

Sources of Pakistan State Oil informed Geo News.

Initially, this fuel with 90 per cent of gasoline and 10 per cent of ethanol was being introduced in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

This fuel comprising both the fuels would be called ‘E-10’.

On August16, the Prime Minister approved the blending of ten per cent of ethanol into petrol; subsequently, PSO and Hydrocarbon Development Institute were directed to commence tentatively the project of blending ethanol into petrol.

PSO sources said this pilot project was started initially for six months for which 25 vehicles were arranged.

Ref to post by Alithegreat, Price effects of Rs.1/- only for Patrol with 10% added Ethenol needs justification from the Govt. The addition of 10% means a reduction in price shud also be extended to 10%.

Govt ONCE again playing and fooling the public, gaining additional 9% in already heavy Patrol revenues.

The ramining Patrol sales by PSO will be ended after this type of experiment. No one wud prefer to take his car on a trial by blended fuel just to save Rs.1.5/Ltr. What wub be the next step Govt take?

1- PSO privatised.

2- People will automatically divert to US/European based pumps for pure fuel leading to revenue leakage as Govt already has no control on foreign investors taking our profits from Pakistan and investing in their own country for the sake of their own peoples.

3- This is a part of international politics and outcome of long term plan. Incase PSO sold, Pakistan will automaticallty depends on foreign supply, coming from Gulf oils, already theft by US.

how can you imagine that there would be decline of 5 rupees ............if they are reducing petrol by rs 5 then they are adding something too and cost of that is included then i guess 1.5 rs decline is justified

Performance
All auto manufacturers approve the use of low-level ethanol blends. Ethanol blends (10% or less) are successfully used in all types of vehicles and engines that require gasoline. From a consumer perspective, there is no noticeable difference in vehicle performance when low-level ethanol blends are used. Because there is a slight difference in the energy content of ethanol and gasoline, there may be a slight reduction in vehicle fuel economy when using ethanol.

Cost
Although ethanol is more expensive to produce than gasoline, tax incentives reduce the price to a competitive level. Some tests show that vehicles average 1.5% lower mileage with E10.

Though I liked the idea of ethanol, I am not going to experiment. Just no fun of saving 40-45 rupees on a full tank.

has anyone ever thought of making ethanol at home by fermenting and distilling sugarcane juice with the help of a "still" made of copper pipes!.
its not much of a complicated process.

i wont come back to petrol untill or unless the petrol prices drop to 30 or the gas prices rise to 40
