As szuberi mentioned,a low powered battery results in damage to other electrical components.Placing one amp with 1000watt capacity places a lot of load on battery and power requirement is increased by 30% if woofers are installed with it.Amplifier drains amperes more than any other standard component in the vehicle thus powerful power source is required. If 0ne amp 1000watts 4 channel installed with 2 speakers and one woofer, the load can be sustained by your current electrical system but if upgraded to two amps having total of 2000 watts, alteration is required.Problem is that two amps have there own capacitors, power supply requirement and place more load on electrical system then one amp having high wattage e.g a friend of mine has installed 2 kenwood speakers 718HQ with 2 woofers pioneer 306dvc wiith 4 channel amplifier 3000watts,JVC new CD/MP3/WMA Player with MMC card slot in his SUZUKI LIANA LXI.The system works fine.Same setup without the Cd-player(In this case Pioneer Cd-Player with changer) was runing in his toyota corolla XE 1999 for 1 year with no problems.
I wanted to do same but was recommended by the electrician to install one amp with high wattage but for more sound quality and clearity, two amps is excellent choice.Only problem is both amps require larger amperes which they cannot acquire on stock electrical system of economy cars in pakistan so the battery reserve power is utilized and when it finishes it starts placing pressure on the generator which ends up in its damage.
In your case, you need to upgrade the battery having minimum of 65AH ampere capacity and connect i amp to this batterys terminal. Then install a second battery in trunk and wire a direct charging cable(You need one single cable)from generator to this battery.Touch the negative terminal to the body via wire.Connect other amp to this battery.Get the generator serviced, change the electrical lead contacts and bearings if required.
For your present problem ,get the battery checked-change acid and get it charged----Its is completely discharged or cells have been damaged due to excessive load. The generator lead contacts may have burned out or loosened up.Rarely,Generator main coil damage in begining stages.
My friend vehicle had this type of setup some 3 years back but in the begining he was running two amps on single battery in his honda civic exi 2003.2 Channel amp 1500watts for running 4 speakers Pioneer--
cant remember the series name`.One amplifier 1200 watts 2 channel to run the 306 DVC pioneer,Sony Xplod x 600 woofers. He ended up in discharged battery within first 3 days of usage and permanent damaged battery cell leading to battery replacement within 7 days. After changing battery to smuggled Yuasa 70AH ampere battery,he ended up in damaged generator lead contacts within 2 weeks after which he performed the upper procedure.
