FYI
Pak suzuki wanted to enter the so called higher tier of Pakistani Saloons in order to compete with the vti's and corolla's.
They came up with this plan to introduce suzuki liana so that people would make a feedback to others after trying out the car and their product would sell not only through their marketing campaigns but also through the customers word of mouth.
They imported suzuki liana in the end of 2005.It was priced at 12-13.5 lac (available in manual and auto transmissions). All Japanese liana;s wether registered in 2010(I know a person who bought one which was standing as a display at khaleel motors) are 2005 models.
Although the build quality was great and the features like
underneath front passenger seat compartment
Black Interior which matched beautifully with the black tone
Audio control through steering
15 inch Alloy rims with Yokohama ad van tires
It was truly a great value for money if it would have been priced a little lower
The most basic element by which you could distinguish a local liana with a Japanese one was
1) tires were more fatter(meaning it was much bigger)
2) bumper moldings
3) Suzuki emblem written on the back
Because these models were specifically tailor made for Pakistani market hence there was no
airbags/ABS/Speed buzzer after kph/Meter speed being limited to 180
People did not want to buy a suzuki worth more than 10 lacs. When finally pak Suzuki did launch it officially people were taken aback by the pathetic build quality, Beige interior which didn't match with the black dashboard and last but not least No manual transmission in 1.6 L which they named eminent.I have personally tested a 1.6L japanese liana with manual transmission giving 12-13 kms.
Also did you know that the 1.6 L engine had VVT but the buffoons at Pak suzuki didn't give any spotlight on this fact whereas altis having vvti and vti having VTec were making inroads among the masses.
