    Default Honda City 2006 ?!?!

Few days back me; tauseen123, SAABi and gem_guy went to dealerships of Chevrolet, Suzuki, Honda, World Automobiles ( for Nissan ) and to a few importers.

    {sorry guys no Pics for you all, we din't had a camera or a camera phone }

We have quiet alot of conclusions about quiet alot of Cars and imports which I would like gem_guy and SAABi to start on this Topic and allow other members @ PakWheels.com to comment and give their views upon.

The thing i want to state here is the New City(s) Engine.
The engine code of it is L12A2 or something like this, I MEAN L12 is for Sure Confirm!! .... whereas The engine code of City which came Before the Fish Faced Models ( NO OFFENSE INTENDED, PLEASE ! ) had an engine coded 13A2. Which was 1300cc.

The point here to note is that By the engine code of the new City we can Conclude it being a 1200cc engine RATHER THEN A 1300cc as CLAiMED by Honda PK!!!!!

And maybe this is the very Same reason it has astonishingly Low Fuel consumtion as Compared to all other 1300cc's in iTs Class!!!!!

I urge all the Technically sound members @ PakWheels.com to assisst us, all members, about the REAL Engine Displacement of the engine coded L12A2.

I have a brochure of city 1.3 launched by Honda Guangzhu China. The brochure does not state engine code but gives following info.

    1.3 ltr 8 valve
    SOHC
    i-DSI
    Displcament 1339 cm cube
    Compression ratio 10.4:1
    Power (kw/RPM) 60/5700
    Tourque (Nm/RPM) 116/2800
    Exhaust Euro IV compliance

I also hace brochure of Honda city from Pakistan Honda Atlas

    It says

    1.3 ltr
    SOHC
    i-DSI
    PGMF-I
    Displcament 1300 cm cube
    Compression ratio 8.8:1
    Power (kw/RPM) 57/5800
    Tourque (Nm/RPM) 106/3000
    Exhaust Euro IV compliance

This difference between 1339 and 1300 is accptable. It shows that Pakistan Honda City has engine somewhere 1290 to 1300. I also have brochures from Malaysia, Philipines, Korea etc but they are at my office. But none of these mention engine codes.

F0r city 1500 both Chinese and Pakistani cars have info as follows

    1.5 ltr
    SOHC
    VTEC
    PGMF-I
    Displcament 1497 cm cube
    Compression ratio 10.1:1
    Power (kw/RPM) 79/5800
    Tourque (Nm/RPM) 143/4800
    Exhaust Euro IV compliance

THis shows that 1500 engines are exactly same where as 1300 engines are different. More analysis could be done if needed.

They can write anything in brochures Sir !!

The thing which intrigues me is that, if a Car is 1500cc it is most probably to have a displacement written in its borchure to be 1498 or s0 BUT never 1500cc!, similarily if a car is 1000cc, The brochure or the Engine in Original will be 998 or 997 something CC not WHOLE 1000cc!

I think Honda PK has mislead its customers for the Sake of gaining Market in Pakistan.
If they state Honda City to be 1.2L, Most people here in PK won't buy iT because they will state it to be LESS POWERFULL! howeva it may not be,

The people here dont understand or view the Facts, They Rather go through the first layer of specs ONLY before their purchase!!.

This is related to Market Sense, Like the sale of Low Quality and Low graded Imports from Japan is On the Rise. People don't know that Importers are getting them Low Graded Auction cars at High Cost.

The engine code of a Car tells All about the Engine and The engine code of City Do, atleast, tell me if not all of us, that its not 1300cc but a 1200cc car.

The Fuel consumption then confirms this!!

hey you all Tech Guys !!! where in the World ARE YOU !?!?

I will confirm the honda city engine code from showroom tomorrow and then see what it tell. In China it is not possible to live with such a bluff. If they put it as 1300 on sale sheet then it has to 1300 cc. Give me a day or two to check it.

    tauseen123,
I had discovered this bluff by Honda when I got my city 2006 in March this year and did disclose my research on the L12A2 engine in this forum. Check out the following link:-

    https://www.pakwheels.com/forumreply.asp?TopicID=16402&ForumID=1

I can help you prove that L12A2 is a 1246 cc engine as I happen to lay my hands on Honda workshop manual which clearly explains various codes. As someone pointed out this engine was meant for European Jazz but remained un popular. Honda city in all other countries are either 1339 cc or 1498 cc. Its only Pakistan where we have 1246cc city being wrongly advertised as 1300cc.
I can photograph the relevent pages of manual and upload the photo if you really want to knock hell out of Honda.

Don't know what the big fuss is about, almost every car has its displacement rounded up in the brochures/model information.

    Corolla 2.0D=1975cc
    Alto 1000cc=970cc
    Honda Accord 2.4=2345cc

Now I don't know about you, but only an idiot would call a 1246cc car a 1200cc car - not only would that be an understatement, but that would probably get you in a lot of trouble with the law (customs, taxation, etc).

@tauseen123: Thank you for the heads up but please stop posting links to this thread on every other thread on PakWheels.

ohh..grt "discovery"...i mean if an engine displacement is 1290 or 1285 cc..then it can be termed as 1300 cc engine..BUT the difference between 1246cc and 1300 cc is very grt..so it can not be termed as 1300 cc....

so city is 1246 cc ..car NOT 1300 cc......

    chao.
nothingh last forever,,even cold november rain.

    @ Panther Bhai,
Ya i wanna bring Honda PK Down on this Matter!! Go ahead Bro !!

    @ exanaxe Bhai,

an L12A2 which is 1246cc can be called 1200cc!!!!!

Think bro !! Rounding off hotee hai HAMEISHAA !!but To the nearest Hundreds!!!
    AND iT IS A 1200cc engine not a 1300cc!!!

A 1300cc engine by Honda in other Countries is 1339cc and so no.... even here in PK when the City was introduced First Time it had an engine coded 13A2 Which was Indeed a 1300cc NOT a WRONGLY Projected 1200cc!!!

Okay if you think it being a 1300cc, Why Honda has Named it L12A2 ?!?!?! LoLz!!! The reason, It is indeed a 1200cc motor!!....oooohh man !!

heheeh Bro i can't stop doing that, !! I wanna let every single Pakwheeler know ABOUT this ScAm! By HONDA PK!!

And we should all try to do this!! Spread WHAT'S True and Stop being a Ninkompop!!

    @ asd123 Bhai,
It is indeed a 1200cc car ! LoLz

You guys are all fools. Going to dealerships and importers and taking their comments as if they're the ultimate.

No car in Pakistan can be labeled as a 1.3 liter car unless the guys from Automotive Manufactuters Association physically measure its engine's bore X stroke.
All cars locally produced are check by a Government Party and NOT by car's maker to see if the engine specs, emission, etc are same as stated.

Absolutely NO car manufacturer has the legal right to produce, or even advertise a car with wrong specs intentionally.

The FACT remains, new City has a L13A engine and your attempt to disgrace others (whilst mentioning no offence simultaneously) remains futile.

Engine is not like you put in the car and you're good to go. The chassy, the suspension, hence everything needs to be so adjusted.
