Angry Wrong gear oil Honda city 2005 i-Dsi

    Dear All ,

i just purchased a second hand Honda city 2005 i-Dsi . last week my mechanic changed the auto metic transmission oil ( 4ltr original Honda )
But i noticed on the bottle of oil written CVTF "not for automatic transmission " ..same time i asked the mechanic and he said to me " my friend this is original and for Honda city go and drive " .. until now i drove my car 1000km and i dint feel any change or problem .
kindly help me " should i need to change my 4 ltr gear oil again with right atf " ?

    thanks

Oo bhai you have filled correct oil...city 05 has not ordinary automatic gears rather it has CVT , and the oil you have filled is CVTF means Continuous Variable Transmission Fluid ...so Dont worry, you filled most appropriate and authentic one...

Remember Automatic Transmission and CVT are different technologies...and City 2003-2008 are CVT not Auto transmission.

Is it 100% confirm that honda city has CVT ?
well, i never heard that in Pak. it has CVT. Its manual or automatic.
But as, the bottle shows the CVT oil, that represents also that its for Honda cars which has CVT. But perhaps someone can highlight more about Pakistani honda city has CVT or not !!.

It is confirmed. City AT 2003~2008 has CVT. Similarly Lancer 1.6 AT sold by Dewan motors also had CVT. You have oil business so be careful. Don't pour normal ATF in these vehicles if they ever come to your workshop.

Dewan Lancer sold in Pakistan only had CVT in 1.6L models.

The 2007-08 Facelift model with 1.3L had 4 speed auto.

Similarly the 1.5L JDM Lancer of 2003-2008 with 4G15 engines had CVT.

Oo yes it is absolutely sure that city vario 03-08 has CVT Continuous Variable Transmission, it is like automatic but for sure NOT AUTOMATIC....CVT IS A DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGY, there is no gear shifting like 1-2-3-4 in CVT ...For more understanding please google it...

Default CVTF-J4 for Mitsubishi Mirage 2012

Are all CVTF fluids the same. for the Mirage it states CVTF-J4 but I cant find the type on the Honda CVTF bottle. also it is stated to be 7 ltr chamber... is that possible on a 1000 cc car. Basically I recently bought the car and don't want to take any chances and want to change the CVTF.. I have changed all the other fluids and now only this is remaining. Please advise.

the honda cvt is not suitable for torque converter type CVT like your mitsubishi has, the toyota one is usable for that. The CVTF your transmission specifies was originally blended by Idemitsu Japan. Its not available in Pakistan - the toyota one is nearly similar to that except that toyota use a red dye in it.
