    @ Nadeem
    Yes use 220,000 as a rough guide to what you would lose after 18 months. Depends on how long you are keeping. You could always go for a few month old model as it loses around half of that figure almost immediately.

    Driving pleasure? Well it was a pleasure to drive. it was smooth enough and only slightly smaller cabin space than Civic. Keep in mind the price differential. If budget is not an issue then that a different matter otherwise...

    High maintanence? 5000 mile service: Rs 900
    10000 service: Rs. 1400. 20000 service: Rs. 3200
    40000 service: Rs. 5500. These are Honda prices. I dont think they are as bad as your friend made them out to be. As i said before this is a real world example and not just an opinion. Mine did 50000 on just routine maintanence and to be honest the way i treated it you could consider it double mileage for a careful driver.

    @Nadeem

    The car used to give around 150kms on a full tank of gas. That was with a/c on virtually all the time. I believe that this is a good return for a 1300cc. The reason for the fuel efficiency is that the engine has two spark plugs per cylinder. This is a very unconventional setup. The only other engine with twin spark plugs was an Alfa Romeo engine from the 80's.

    At 5000 it is just oil & filter. 10000 same plus airfilter. 20000 same plus spark plugs. 40000 same plus gearbox oil changed, brake fluid changed plus a few other things. A cheaper and just as effective way to maintain it is to buy genuine Honda parts and have them fitted by your own mechanic.

    To be honest i dont think there is much between the 1300cc contenders. Alot is simply down to personal preferences or prejudices. They are all ok cars. None will compete with a 5-series but take them for what they are and they are sufficient. You will not find a drastic difference between any of them. I think that the Liana is awful but would never say that to anybody asking for advice coz it is just an opinion. In another thread a liana owner has said that he has never had a problem with it so how bad can it actually be???

    @ateekt: if ppl dont have sense of driving thats not the cars fault is it

    Honda City is far better related to value for money. Dude please visit the "Honda City Fan Club" thread by my dear bro ahmadbilal and you will know everything about City.

    BTW There is an "XLI Fan club" as well and you will see where it ended

    The only thing XLI has better is slightly good resale and better pickup

    thankx for the service thingy ... added value to my knowledge and also agree to ur point of view

    @ ateekt

    come to Peshawar friend and I will show u workshops full of new corollas getting repaired or lying with nuthing left in it . I thought u would be a wise person just kidding

    @ retrograde

    brother I have never driven city but corollas so cannot say how weak would it be on pick... would u like to shed some light regarding its comparison with corolla 1.3L on pickup ?

    @ tariq

    yes I know that it has got 8 spark plugs i.e 2 for each cyl but I would definitely like to know whether our local mechanics understand its engine repairing ?? if broken some where on M2 or near to LALAMUUSA on Grand Trunk Road ? actually it matters .....

    @Cylestyne is absolutely right.

    From my side, the AC is pretty nice and quite better than the Corolla. I have an Altis 2006 with 48k km on it and believe me the AC is really pathetic. It wasnt at first, but now it is plus the vents are really small and you barely get any air out of it

    Resale is a bit better for the XLi / GLi but see point 4 in "Storm's" signature.

    @nadeem
    The acceleration 0-100 for the XLi is better both on CNG and petrol, but economy of the City is a lot better. And with soaring fuel prices and increasing traffic, logically the more sluggish but fuel efficient vehicle is whats best!

    @ateekt
    Crashed Citys are WAY fewer posted on PW than crashed rollas dude! ...

    @ human

    2 questions ....

    1 how sluggish??? actually have been using corolla 88 stock 1.3L on cng and it used to get hell slow with AC tunred on and 5 passengers in it ??? would the city be as slow as my previous rolla ???

    2 yeah resale doesnt save ur life in an acci but how would u positively justify this statement in case of city ????

    brothers none has told me about the breakdown and its easy repairing by our local mechanics ....

    Regards

    i totally agree with cylestine...altho pick isnt all that bad on CNG either if tuned rite...i own a 05 city manual.its got 79000kms on the clock and is going strong with all the abuse i can throw at it.just got regular 10k 20k checks those too a bit late.i changed tires wen i bot it n grip is good too now.truthfully its braking is not anything to get excited over but itnt as bad as the corolla...it has 3 different drivers with 3 absolutely different driving styles yet its holding strong.good AC.parts are easy to find.economical and pretty comfy too.i would advise u to go for it.if i wer u id go for a second hand steermatic tho.

    when it comes to crashes, cars with & without resale doesn't have any difference at all, its just misconception. please notice the pillars of honda city in the above link which are totally destroyed.. just gives u an idea how safe the locally assembled cars are, no matter what the resale is!

    i hate when people say "cars with better resale wont save u in the accident.." look above what happened to the car with not so better resale, one leg of the driver was cut! not as they say it saves u in accidents. :s

    @lotus: yes bro u are right but rolla has a known and defined fault with regards to braking and stability. Believe me every rolla owner (pak assembled) i talked to say that its braking sucks and a few of them had accidents coz of this

    nadeem: City IDSI has the slowest pick in 1.3 cars of Pakistan. The initial pickup is more like a diesel car but it picks up good speed cross 60.

    If you wanna have a city with great pickup then u wil have 2 choices:
    1. Buy old 2002 1.3 hypervalve city
    2. Buy used steermatic 1.5 auto
    3. Wait for an year for new 1.3 ivtec city to come in

    Simply I would say resale has nuthing to do with life saving...... what r we getting in corolla ?? the car with best resale ... even the one of the most important parts , brakes dont work properly ... what else is left ????/ the tool which keeps u away from sudden death or loss isnt properly with u .... personally I havnt driven new sahpe corolla on high speeds but thats what whole Pakistan says......

    I guess he didnt loose his leg but to take him out they ahd to cut it a bit ... they had to cut it a bit ..... what a cruality ... could have done somthing else less painfulll but again ....... heartbreaking......
