My JDM alto has a EPS steering .Its light at low speeds but hard at highspeeds gives good feedback and control.
And yes the HPS in 02-08Corolla is light as compared to HPS of Civic

the steering is the same in later models as well.. i don't find 2010 model's steering to be any different than the previous ones.

the reason behind the recall is that the feed pipe is somehow weak in 06-08 versions and often bursts up after prolonged periods of use. the hydraulic fluid leaks and the steering becomes rock hard during drive.

everything that happens is gradual so one doesn't feel his car's steering get hard unless he brakes at a red light or makes a turn.

its only then a person can realize k "oh, ye to gaya kaam se"
