    Default Honda VTI 2003 Prosmetic

    Two questions.

    1. Car tunning: is it any better to do it at honda ? or at a mechnic shop ? Whats invovled in tunning ?
    2. Tappet Adjustments or OverHaul : I don't have the manual but the car has done 120K Do i need to get this done ? Again from Hodna or a Mechanic ?

Is the tunning for this old car done through computer or just normal adjustments ?

I have Civic Exi manual 170k driven, I am not sure about Vti but exi have got a tiing belt and it need to be replaced at 80k otherwise if it gets broken you need to overhual your engine cost too much. So i will advise you to get it checked from Honda 3S with good repute and confirm whether vti has timing belt or not.

I did my car tuning a month ago and now its giving 13-13.5 km/l in city without AC my daily drive is around 40kms with 70-80km/h half of the journey implementing some of the hypermiling techniques.

Tappet adjustment is done in engine tuning including throttle body service and computer check, actually they adjust fuel setting with the help of computer.

I am a regular customer of Honda Pit Stop 2S Johar Town Lahore for last ten years and I am very happy with their services and guidence.

    thank you ,

I have already done the following

    1. Got the timing belt and timing (metal round thing) changed form Honda.
    2. Got shocks foundations replaced by a local mechanic.
    3. changed the radiator from water to Coolant ( Gulf)
    4. Power steering oil changed (Gulf)

Next I am thinking of getting the Engine oil changed, air filter and oil filter replaces. Other posters recommended I go for a 10W30 Caltex Havoline and the OEM filter from Honda.

I asked Honda for tuning prices and this what they quoted me two different prices 800 - 3000. So that's why i was wondering what's involved .

so is car tuning different then engine tuning ?

I suggest you to go for tunning to Honda 3S.
In 800 they just do hulka phulka throttle wash and clean the air filter (i believe).
However i got my car tuned from Honda 3S Drive Inn in 3500(3000+500 labour).Tunning in 3000 is a package.
    they did the following things
1- throttle cleaned, sensor cleaned adjusted the rmp etc.
    2- tappet adjusted
3- plugs opened, they replace it if require otherwise clean them and reinstall
4- replace the filter if is is required otherwise the filter is cleaned.
5- Scan it for fuel pressure and for other sensors.
car really feel good after having tuned from them. Giving good average too.

I have 109,000KM driven Prosmatec which shifts like a brand new car... Tranny oil replaced religiously every 30k KM from Honda 3S.

If you're not flushing thn you'll need around 3.5 liters... 4000 max i think... Its a "must do" maintainance. Civic prosmatec are sensitive trannys and there is noway to replace the filter without opening up the whole thing.

The sump bolt has a magnet to attract debris. Once the magnet is full, the debris continue circulating and cause major damage.

I am lost here. There is filter in the Transmission section too ?

Honda quoted around 3750 for Trasmission fluid /3L. . they didn't tell me about any filter ..

    Here are there pricing :

    Engine Oil =1950
    Oil Filter = 850
    Air Filter : 1400
    Transmission Oil : 3750 for 3L AT

there are also recommending a Fuel Filter : 6200
    Brake Fluid : 1400

    and a 40K service costing around = 4500

I didnt say u "need" to replace the filter. It has to be protected by replacing transmission oil at correct intervals.
