Default Heat near console of automatic Honda civic 99-00 vti orial.

I have civic 99-00 automatic vti oriel. I randomly touched the bottom of console on which automatic gear is mounted. I feel some heat on console and carpet near console.

Can I know that is it normal in automatic car?

It happens when silencer is in contact with body.
Beneath gear stick is silencer passage.
The best car safety device is a rear-view mirror with a cop in it.

the heat shield for the exhaust in your car is probably missing, its a thin metal tin that is bolted to the car on the entire length of the exhaust system.

If you cannot locate the shielding then you can wrap the exhaust in heat wrap.
