    Default Civic 2005 Engine

    @all honda freaks
    drove toyota always but gave up just a while ago. have switched to 05 Civic Vti. What exact engine model does this 05 Civic Vti oriel has? Im preparing to do some extreme modifications with it. It kinda looks like a D16y-x series.

    z6 and w9 are both JDM spec motors...while the Z is more common and widely seen. you have to keep on trying with google and im sure something will come up.

    when i say...vtec messes up with turbos...that doesnt mean it is impossible to do it.

    The idea why a vtec cam is not optimable for forced induction is because the vtec cam was designed for a naturally aspirated engine.

    NA Cam design: High lift and long duration.

    Turbo Cam Design: High lift and shorter duration.

    Why: duration means how long the cam opens up both the intake and exhaust valve at the same time. Turbo cars have a very high pressure on the exhaust valve because of the restriction of the turbo. If the exhaust valve is still open during the "Filling" stroke of the engine then exhaust will reverse it's flow back into the cylinder contamination the fresh intake charge.

    At the end...it all depends how do you tune your turbo setup....most turbo setups end up in crap cuz of bad fuel management setups. u need someone who really knows what he is doing.
    I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it..and so restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions.

    yeah i agree with u but here many of the mechanics dont know much about turboin and many of the turbo setups ends up with broken block
    i am just planing to go turbo ,with a custom kit(Orignal ones are too expansive)
    can u tell me sumthing about psi n turbochargers
    coz geting a t 3/t4 here in pak is pretyu hard n expansive
    tell me about sum turbo charger from toyota side or if possible tell me about some custom setup for 180 to 200hp having stock internal thnx

    D16W9

    * VTEC
    + Displacement : 1590 cm3
    + Bore and Stroke : 75 mm X 90 mm
    + Compression : 9.6:1
    + Power : 127 hp @ 6600 rpm & 107 ft·lbf @ 5500 rpm
    + VTEC Switchover 4800 rpm
    + Valvetrain : SOHC VTEC
    + Fuel Control : OBD-2 MPFI

    Found this on one site. 127HP is quite enough for a stock car. Think about adding 4-2-1 headers, downpiping, leet plugs and wires. Can pack quite a punch.

    Prefer the term natural aspirated

    i cant suggest anything unless you tell me what is your objective with the project? you have to start with an end in mind.

    If you drag and track your car alot, it makes sense to spend all the money but if you are daily regular driver, it is not worth in my opinion going for either of these two options.

    If you can find a K20 swap...it will likely be very expensive. The K swap is pertty straightforward in most EG (92-95) and EK (96-00) civics. The K20A3 (160hp) motor is atleast $4K over here while the 200hp K20A2 / K20Z (06 Civic SI) is even more expensive than that.

    THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE TO KEEP IN MIND IS....It doesnt matter how big or fast your turbo motor is...all depends how well it is tuned.

    Personally...i wouldnt buy the A3 cuz i can get that much power and performance out of the ITR B18C motor with bolt ons and ecu tuning...or even a boosted B16 for that matter. These motors are obviously better if you are on a budget.
    I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it..and so restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions.

    with bolts on like I/H/E..your gains will be minimal but if you add NOS..then you will definitely notice quiet a bit increase in power. If you dont have a fully built motor (stronger rods, pistons and cams etc.), prolong use of NOs or a high power TC is not healthy for your engine in the long run.

    160-170hp is quiet achieveable...a supercharger is also one of your options if you are not into it too hardcore.

    your best bet is to go to a local tuner and have this discussion. ask him to give you the options, the ins and outs...cuz like i said before...buying turbo and other stuff is the easy part...at the end of the day, it all depends how good and professional is the install and tune-up of the whole setup. Much depends upon the person installing and seting it all up in your car.
    I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it..and so restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions.
