When the mechanic was adjusting the tappets, how much clearance (gap) did he leave?

Many mechanics use a generic setting for EFI cars: 0.1 mm for the intake, and 0.25 mm for the exhaust. This leads to a poor performing engine.

My bad, I replied to the wrong thread. I had another thread opened in another tab.

Anyways, try to bleed air from the radiator.

Install cooling system components ie tstat valve and fan. Check with n without AC.

If it still heats, i would check water body. it is under the timing cover. I am assuming you have a clean system.

The needle is not real time and at about 40% the actual temperature is between 75 - 115 (checked through OBD port). if your needle is moving north of 40%, you are actually running very very hot coolant and at the same time running risk of blowing head gasket.

The needle should always always stay at 40%. I have same gen civic and I've been driving it extensively under the heat, never seen it going above 40%.

Thats because cng runs hotter than liquid fuel.

I would still suggest you reinstall components and check your fan speed and water body. since you are already without t stat you should be able to see the flow of water after removing radiator cap. A water pump will circulate the coolant very quickly and will be visible. You should also check you lower hose. It should heat up quickly. A warm or cold lower hose would mean coolant is not being circulated properly.
