Default Need Suggestions on Maintenance - Civic Eagle Eye

    Hi Guys,
I have recently bought a 2005 Exi (A/T), 167,000KM on ODO....the car engine and body is nicely maintained and in almost original condition. Since the car is driven too much so I thought its good to have a health check from Honda dealership. Yesterday, I took it to Honda Defence, Karachi for 150,000 KM inspection. They charged me Rs.2850/- for that. Told me that engine tune-up, bolts tightening and Brake Service will be included in that. However, no noticeable difference is seen in drive after these maintenance.

Anyhow, the point of concern is, I asked them to give me an estimate of the parts which they think needs replacement. I was surprised to see their estimated bill which was of Rs. 210,480/-. The parts and the labor charges mentioned in their estimate is quite huge. I know, car maintenance is due and some parts genuinely needs replacement as per car mileage like Timing Belt & Bearing etc.

However, I need you guys advice on what parts I should change immediately and from where (Need suggestions for Honda Genuine Parts Dealer and some trustworthy Honda Specialist mechanic) to fit these parts in my Vehicle..

I am uploading the image of Honda estimate for your info as well......need your priceless suggestions urgently.
    Thanks in advance.

as per their parts list you bought a lemon (which i hope you didnt)
I would just get the timing belt+bearing replaced with an OEM part (if not replaced yet)
flush and replace the coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid (if needed)
replace the spark plugs (if needed)
and lastly brake pads all round (if needed)
funny thing there isnt a single suspension component mentioned which usually the first thing that breaks done in Karachi

Thanks folks for your replies.... @arsalankhan....yes after crossing 70KMPH speed, steering vibrates and the vibration increases while slowing down the vehicle....I think this will be solved if I simply replace brake pads.....isnt it??

I dont know how much honda parts cost(conparision with Toyota), Dealership charge alot for parts but some of these are Double $$ then they should be ..

    Throttle Body service 1600
    Fuel Filter 6000-7000
    Brake pads- 13000
timing belt replacement should be 2500 max..

Rest everythings price seems Normal for For a dealership to charge...

But i am amazed that they did not include any suspension parts in the quote After 70kph the vibration of steering means there is something wrong with Cv joints probably

Crank seal, oil seals and timing belt and bearing should be changed asap, Discs pads.. thats all..

then later on you can Add gear and engine mounts..
Use the power pump till it fails and replace with NEW or used pump as you like.

Well i am not advocate of Honda Dealership they charge way overprice but these are perks of getting car done from 3s. Well 5k for valve adjustment ? phew 3k for throttle body service.

Things they wrote may be necessary and due replacement you need to have usermanual and see what needs to be replaced at what time. We dont replace stuff that is due and they gave in and we blame used car.

Vibration is due to unbalancing of tires. Do tire balancing and alignment. If the tires are badly worn out then try to change them.

Tyres Balancing is one of the most common reason for vibration other then that you might need to get the original disks resurfaced cx after that much long mileage they need one ... other than that don't ever change the steering pump of the car cx this technology is obsolete till now .. go for EPS you can buy after market ones and you will be freed from steering maintenance... EPS of honda city works and fits fine

@UsmanAftab.....yup I did my tyres balanced, discs resurfaced and all brake pads changed. After this, the problem is gone and steering is working perfectly fine even on 100kmph.....no vibration at all.....

    Sir,

Honda civic has major costly expenses every 40,000km. I will not blame the Honda dealership here after seeing the quote although i am aware that honesty is rarely found nowadays.

If i were you I would ask the previous owner atleast if he had got this car properly maintained at Honda for every 5000km cycle?

If he has got everything done up through Honda dealership at the required intervals especially at 40,000 then 80,000 then 120,000 and then 160,000km then this quote is ridiculous and ignore it.

I think the timing belt is due to change either at 80,000 or 120,000km.

It would be in your best interest to gradually follow this list over the next few months and get parts replaced in your car if you plan to use this vehicle for next 3-5 years especially on out station long route trips.

On priority : Get Seals replaced, timing belt and bearing replaced. Then mountings and sensors.

    Goodluck
