Folks here is some update:-
I recently spoke to a gentleman who works in the Lahore Honda Fort dealership. According to him, Honda is selling about 8-10 cars per day from all over Pakistan. This figure is lower than plan as Honda had an overwhelming response to the launch of its top of the line civic - the VTI Oriel Prosmatic (PKR15lakh). Honda was not prepared for the response to this model and did not have enough tramsmissions on hand to fulfill the bookings. They are now scrambling to fill the order for their top of the line car as fast as possible, but only able to give you a car in six months from booking date.
Now one can argue these are their tactics to sell cars slowly so they can all enjoy the extra income from the "premium" on cars, but given the low number of new civics on the road, one should consider this aspect with some level of truth.
Also the mechanics at the Honda dealerships ahve told me there are many complaints with the new Honda, such as the door handles getting jammed in the open position in the regular model, rattling sound of the windscreen, some modesl ahve had acceleration problems etc.
On the other hand, a few of my friends have bought the various models and are thrilled by this car's performance. Most are upgrading the wheels to alloys of 17" which make the car look stunning.
Overall, it is my assessment we will being to see more and more of this car on the roads in the first quarter of 2007. The above is ismilar to what we heard when the last Honda City was launched, and as we all know, its a very popular car now !!
Honda has yet to let us down !!!!!
