Default Civic Brake Failure- My Recent Experience

Today evening I faced the terrifying situation of brake failure. While looking for a stop in parking lot all of a sudden brake paddle was flat. Speed was low so just bumper damaged to some extent by hitting the parking fence.

I noticed the brake fluid leakage near the driver side front wheel. But I am surprised that why does sudden leakage occur.

What are the causes behind this failure??
Is there any impact of wheel size?? As it is Civic Exi-2005 with 195/65 Tyres & 15” Alloy Rim. Means app. 6% larger diameter wheel than company fitted.

    Looking for Expert’s Opinion

Something would have Hit to the bottle containing Brake Fluid which caused Leakage. This can happen to any car, any day, due to any reason.

Check the brake lining. It might have hit something which caused it to leak.

brake fliud leak, which runs throughout braking system. chk for cut pipes etc. as you noticed leakage on frt wheel. didnt you notice brake light indicator on in dash?

the handbrake works though , in case of failure, pump padel this might build brake pressure from remaining fluid and downshift gears as they get avaliable on speed reduction. after reaching 1st gear, switch off ignition and steer for avaliable road till dead stop jerk.

shift to 2 and then 1 or Low in automatic ,, pull handbrake.
,,, unless you know the track, you're not good enough to sit behind the wheel." K T

In case of a brake failure, its useless to pedal the brake pad kion'k unless its not properly bleeded you can't stop it. I had the same experience over a Hyrndai excel with 4AGE during over speeding situation.

Whiteangel you have pointed the real cause….
Wheel found rubbing against the flexible portion of the tube carrying brake fluid. So tube getting weak with the passage of time and finally punctured when brake applied.

So a word of caution for those using bigger rims and wider tyres (As I have mentioned I am using the 15" rim with 195/65 tyres)
Please check your wheel housing for any side effect (fouling of mud shields, tubing etc)
