Well, there isn't much to write about this car. It's pretty much one dimensional, straight line speed being given the highest priority.
I'm sure the car has potential for being somewhat interesting on twisty roads but the problem is that you have to go very fast on those roads to be able to enjoy the car. The car rides like a normal Conti GT in the standard suspension setting but firm up the setting all the way and the roll is much better controlled.
The carbon ceramic brakes were excellent, no squeals and not grabby at all (like in the Lambo Gallardo). The car that I drove had optional rear seats. With the rear seat option you obviously can't get the carbon fibre bracing that runs right behind the front two seats in the two seat only model. I'm not really sure if the additional bracing would noticably stiffen up the chassis much. The exhaust is nice and loud on start-up, after that the loud woosh can only be heard after the car shifts into 2nd-gear under full throttle. The steering column mounted shift pedals are just horrible, they should be attached to the steering wheel in the Supersports. The interior is way too bland for a Bentley so I didn't bother taking any pics.
Overall, i'm not really impressed with the Supersports. Just like the first time I drove the Conti GT, the straight line speed is what gets your attention. The Conti GT Speed was a little bit faster with no more driver involvement than the standard car. The Supersports is again one step faster than the GT Speed and isn't really the drivers car that I hoped it would be. I'll take the Brooklands anyday over a Supersports.
Drooooool.
Disregard my earlier comment.I read your intro.lolzzzz. Your comment about the 'straight line' is relevant as this car is too bulky to be a real sportscar. I took a short spin in the GT Speed below and i was 'WOW' , though. By the way,i hate you too.
Oh I didn't even get to read your earlier comment :).
Hey at least you got to drive a GT Speed. Most people won't even come close to driving it.
nice review.. too sad that it still loses in the quarter mile to the R35
Great to see you driving around this car......but it never looked like a supercar or sports car......
Pretty concise review, so the punchline is; all that shines isn't gold!!
I'll take the Brooklands anyday over a Supersports.
You've driven the two best Bentleys in the market... Jesus Christ! I envy you!
thats the super car for ladies... no offence nick :P.. u are indeed really lucky to have driven it
Thanks! The R35 probably has a better power to weight ratio.
Thanks man. Yeah the design is pure GT car, no doubt about that.
Thank you sir! Yeah for $273,000 I can think of tons of cars i'd rather have. Besides, if someone really wants one they should just weight a bit and watch the prices tank. The mass production of the Conti GT isn't helping the residuals much.
Now I just need to drive the Mulsanne :). The only problem is that it's not coming to the U.S. until fall.
"thats the super car for ladies"
Yeah that pretty much sums it up :D.
Here's one in Ice White. I thought this would be a rare color but I was wrong. Another dealer has 5 Ice White SS in stock!
Not really that much appealing a car, compared to the plain continental IMOGreat review as always
will let you know my feedback after i wake up from my coma
_ hate ___!
I guess, there hasn't been any car produced this decade that could potentially be driven for free on a balloon note financing hayna? and I believe that it is entirely caused by confused car makers. For instance the Conti GT; it is such a beautiful with its deisgn entirely focused upon a Businessman to his office and vice versa in GT style, but the car makers confused it, they tried to lift up its value by limiting its production number to make one hungry-for-track-recognition-model but I suppose that won't do...but would you agree that if a limited number of Conti GT focused on exclusiveness with style, cool hand-made gauges and etclike bentley is known for...then we coulda have a winner.
But its like Rolls-Royce went to create a special Phantom Nurburgring edition! So many cars which no one cares for...!
The standard car does not appeal to me at all. A Bentley dealer told me that the vast majority of Conti GT's ordered these days are the Speed model, very few people are considering the standard model.
lol!
Yeah I agree completely, the mass production of the GT has ruined it. I really liked the design when the car was first released. The fact that they're so common now really affects the appeal. I can't really blame Bentley for the mass production though, they needed it. And lets not even talk about the interior please, the Jag XJ has moved the game so far ahead that it's not even funny.
Speaking of the Phantom Nurburgring edition...I think you've got a great idea right there :P.
