As I reported earlier automotive companies are trying to reduce gap between their model line ups resulting in new cars and cross overs. Mercedes, Audi as well as BMW are fighting strong in starting level sedans already. Now the competition has gone into cross overs.
Land Rover came with Evoque few years ago. Audi has Q5 already and selling well. Most recently Porsche revealed Macan ( https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/cool-classic-cars-latest/225473-2015-porsche-macan-crossover ) and Mercedes is up with GLA ( https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/news-articles-driver-education-safety/224147-mercedes-benz-gla-class ).
BMW already have an X3 but they showed a concept crossover in recent LA show. It looks like a mini X6.
The BMW X4, code-named F26, shares its platform with the current X3. It will be wider, lower, and probably slightly shorter in length. The U.S. market will receive the X4 in two strengths: the 28i with a 240-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and the 35i with a 300-hp, 3.0-liter inline-six. Both engines will, of course, be turbocharged. The four-banger could be offered both in sDrive rear- and xDrive all-wheel-drive configurations; the 35i will be all-wheel-drive only. Regardless, all will come fitted with an eight-speed automatic.
