Thanks for your generous offer. And don't worry so much about oil thingy as all oils are fine for our econo sedans.

I used Leppon oil filter once and it was so so. Even Guard (if you find original) has go better internals if you open up both the filters.

Kindly go through these comments by expert motorists about the full triangle of air cleaner element, fuel filter and drainage intervals in Pakistani context. In our dusty environment short drain interval is required.

    yes you are right
as people are happy with their provided tyres
as happy with their oem head lights with less illumination so thats why they install hid

people change their tyres, lights rims and spend extra money on kits ans waxes but will not spend

2000rs extra for good aftermarket imported oil.

hahahaha, the great oil controversy arises again. I've said this before, every one gives a different set of numbers without actually understanding what those numbers actually mean. Please try to understand these numbers and heir actual significance and you'll be out of this confusion. Here is a brief summary of my take on all that has been said in recent posts:

    1. No oil damages your engine, but thicker oils do put extra load on it.

    2. The grade is actually more important than the viscosity. Cars having catalytic converters installed in the exhaust system should not use anything except SN grade as the by products of 'ALL' other grades poison the catalyst. As a matter of fact, that is the only difference between SN and SM grade.

    3. Toyota recommends it's genuine oil filters for 10,000km even in the much harsher conditions of Dubai. I don't see why they shouldn't last that long in Pakistan.

    4. Synthetic oils are always better than mineral but beware of oils having a difference of greater than 30 between the cold and working viscosity values. These oils are filled with VI stabilizers which are highly prone to disintegration and reduce the life of oil. Usually good synthetic oils with good oil filters should be good for 10k. Oils with high VIs even if synthetic will need change at shorter intervals.

    5. Shell has been inquired about repeatedly. The comment that shell oils are local is not entirely correct. Shell helix ultra (black can) is imported and in my opinion a good oil. The rest from shell are local. That's the only difference between the black and blue can which have exactly same specification other wise.

    6. Toyota does not require toyota oils for warranty. The manual clearly says 'these specification oils from toyota OR equivalent'.

    7. Any good synthetic SN grade oil of 10w40 or 5w30 is recommended for the new corolla IMHO.

    Choose as per your satisfaction

I've been there twice on my tenth gen gli, once with three people besides myself. The car doesn't struggle any more than you'd expect from any 1.3l. Your friend needs to work on his driving skills or get his car checked.

All 1.6 owners please, has anyone managed to spot a cruise light in the instrument cluster? it should be right side of the speedometer needle i think in this layout. the mesh really makes it hard to see. the control stalk is for less than 5k and the wiring is already there but it wont work without the light as the circuit wont be complete.

Bro. it's all confusion I asked what oil to use in my 2012 Altis 1.6 cruise tronic it's Km 54000 & since day1, I am using 20W-50 of Toyota.
    How's Toyota 10W-30?
or suggest any other like Shell/Total etc.
I m confused about flushing procedure, is it mandatory or any simple solution?
Will change of oil effect car performance & fuel consumption.

    O guys have a heart. Oil..oil..oil..

    Here it goes.
    1. Use any good branded 5w30 or 0w30 oil.
    2. Stay away from wide viscosity grades like 5w50 etc for our small sump engines
    3. Avoid 20w50 in newer engines (consider only after 100k kms)
    4. No need to flush before 50k km.
    5. Always use a good branded oil filter. The inner element and O ring of a cheapo filter can fail anytime.

Have more fun. .and less oil worries!

No I may go for Patron. No fuss about oils. The only thing matters is that oil should be genuine.
