    Default 2014 Corolla 1.3 GLi AT - aliusman420

So Alhamdulillah finally our brand new Corolla 1.3 GLi AT arrived today. Kindly do say Masha Allah
We needed a family car and this new gorgeous Corolla recently launched which everyone fell in love with so we decided to go for it. As it would have been a general family use car we decided upon 1.3 GLi, initially we were planning to go for the manual one as had doubts about the automatic one, but after reading what our fellow @InNoCeNt_DeViL stated in his review of the test drive he took of GLi AT, our decision changed and we booked the automatic one. Due to the unstable security situation in Islamabad test drives are not being given.
Date of booking on PBO was 19th August and car was delivered to us on 1st October.
So far loving every bit of it, Alhamdulillah money well spent.
It has put the critics to rethink their statement of the car being under-powered, Masha Allah the throttle response is very good.
Currently the car is a Night Rider it is mainly being used in the second half of the day.
    So here go the reviews:
    1. Quick review from dealership to home Page 1 Post #3.

    2. Short review Page 4 Post #65.
    3. Daylight pics Page 4 Post #64.
    4. Slightly longer review Page 5 Post #96.

    5. Comparison with Lancer Page 6 Post #116.
    6. Brief comparison with Prius 1.8 Page 8 Post #145.
    7. Recent pictures Page 13 Post #253.
    8. First ever long journey of the car review along with pictures, Islamabad to Lahore via Motorway Page 18 Post #359.
    9. Extensive detailing session carried out on the car Page 22 Post #421.

    Stay tuned for more updates

    1. As for vibrations, Alhamdulillah there hasn't been such an issue even on stock EuroStar tires. The only issue my car had was slight misalignment of the steering wheel and brake bias of some extent on the left wheel, got that fixed under warranty.

    2. Acceleration is smooth and good enough, it performs better than City 1.3 AT to be very honest, and load it as much as you want you will not feel any noticeable difference in the initial acceleration.

    3. The time I booked mine, only 4 days had passed since the launch of XLi/GLi/GLi AT, Altis 1.6 was nowhere to be seen back then, and as we already have a 1.8 so it wasn't of amy bemefit going for Altis 1.6, it wasn't launched back then as well for general public, and I had followed this car's launch closely but there wasn't any need of Altis so we went for this and Alhamdulillah pretty much satisfied.

    4. Take the past decade's trend, GLi always enjoyed a better resale than Altis which always gave loss to the owners while selling, Grande is popular and some say it will change the trend but can't comment on that.

Recently sold my gli auto for a premium of 45000.
And i was shocked to hear that 1.6 altis is being sold for around 150000 premium. Which means that 1.3 auto due to some unheard reasons has started to lag in the market. So it could be posible that 1.3 auto could be left behind from the 1.6 altis this time.

One dealer also told me it's around 180k for 1.6 Altis. So it means demand has increased a lot

Wa-alaykum us salaam brother and thanks a lot for to-the-point replies. I believe it's always better to ask the owner his first hand experience rather than the dealers, as the former will most probably give you a neutral opinion. May Allaah bless you with more. Do keep this thread alive

    Dear Ahmed,

My car don't have any vibration issues but I crossed 100 KM seldom

No issue with pick & acceleration

I considered driving conditions of Karachi, Fuel Economy Obviously Pricing

I am not a resale conscious. But here in Karachi, above factors are always considered & 1.3 is a better choice. As per market, it always have a great demand in resale plus always give good price. 1.6 variant is hot these days but will cost you much at resale point.
Success lies not in fall but in getting up after every fall.
    Danish Riaz.

A: Not at all. Despite the fact that I tend to watch such things very closely.

    2. How is the pick and acceleration of the car considering the huge body on a 1.3 L Auto engine?
A: I just happened to switch from an 8th Gen Civic M/T. While there is no comparison, yet, surprisingly, for a 1.3L engine with A/T, it's very impressive. Quick and smooth.

    3. What made you buy the GLI 1.3L Auto instead of Altis 1.6L?
A: Didn't see any additional benefits apart from the engine. For that difference alone, I was not willing to pay the hefty amount (of course for some money might be no problem). Resale is a factor, MOST of us consider.

    4. According to your experience, will GLI 1.3L enjoy a better resale as compared to Altis 1.6L?
Definitely yes. The GLi is adequately equipped and powered. Specs on paper do not always translate the same way in the field. I mean the myth of a humongous Goliath like body with David like engine. Besides our road and traffic conditions warrant a motorbike at best 😛

    Default 2014 Corolla 1.3 GLi AT - aliusman420

Actually, in most of the countries around the globe, assembling and finishing is robotic/automative. That means high degree of consistency. Here Pakistani automobile manufacturers adopt manual labour on the assembly lines, so there will be inconsistencies (which should be to an acceptable degree). Take the example of misaligned tail lights, imperfections in paint job, improper balancing of wheels, mysterious scratches in a brand new car. This statement of mine does not include factors that we all lambast such as lack of features or even A-quality tyres in the current price point. So a lot is left to be desired for. But hey, look at the bright side. We get to do the rest of IMC's work and add accessories, some of which should have come standard. Isn't that satisfying?
Bhaio, in the end, we are not worthy of deserving such things in life.
Be thankful to Almighty Allah Subhan Wataala for all that is surrounding us, be thankful for the mornings you see regularly which we take for granted, be thankful for XLi, GLi, 1.6, 1.8, CVTi blah blah because if we look deep down, we don't DESERVE what we have.
    Have a nice day, everyone.

They cost the buyer the that much too. Usual brands are exchanged for ten thousand bucks so comes to the same.

Euro Star is a good tire BTW. All our mission Corollas are on them and do the job well across Pakistan in all terrain

^^^ I concur. It has become a drill to change tyres immediately thereby circulating the same tyre in the market that you just happened to change. I wouldn't be surprised if the tyres you and I just changed after taking delivery of a new car end up back at IMC or Honda Atlas. Could you tell the difference? Could you tell that the Eurostar tyre has already smooched the road for maybe 80-100 KMs? I could be wrong but hey, who stops us from imagining such things.
Back to the point. These are average tyres for the average Joe driving an average car in an average way on below average roads. Work fine as long as you stick to the word AVERAGE.

I couldn't agree more with fouad bhai.

Used the factory spec EuroStars on my 8th gen for 5 years. The road noise was a little high but for "average" driving conditions it worked just fine. If there was any fuel economy setback, then I would have spent the same or a higher amount while upgrading to higher spec tyres with lower rolling resistance, thereby nullifying the money saving advantage.
