Default Engine swap for 2012-13 Xli

AOA pakwheelers , I bought a brand new Corolla Xli and now I want to replace it's current 1300cc ( 2NZ FE ) engine and get a much more powerful and fast engine for my car as I feel that the current engine is quite underpowered, so I recently did a research on good Toyota engines like this " 2AZ-FE " is a 2.4 L (2362 cc) which Toyota offers in the XRS trim of Corolla ( U.S) and some other engines like the " 3ZR-FE " ( 2000 cc ) and of course the famous " 1ZZ-FE " (1800cc) which came with the 2010 Altis. I wanted to know that is my xli capable of having an engine swap or not ? I will be waiting for some expert opinion and good advice about my query. Thankyou in advance 😄

what your are looking for Torque or Acceleration ?? @saif.shaikha contact these few for right suggestion. 1ZZFE will be bolt-on into the engine bay without any problems. You will be needing complete wiring harness & ECU with the engine

1zzfe is a good choice. But not recommemded. As your brakes are not very effective being non-abs.

1zz-fe is good but since it was short lived here, parts are real expensive and harder to source.

also if you want a serious power gain, i would rather go for the 2zz-ge with the six speed manual transmission that comes with it.
you will need of course the engine, transmission, wiring and ECU. along with better brakes and suspension - including axles that come with the 2zz-ge since they are better suited to handle its power.

swapping in a 1zz-fe is easier though.

If I were you, i would sell this car and look for a corolla altis 1.8 or maybe the civic 1.8 too.

2ZZ-GE - aka incredible engine - it seems to rev forever, hang off the limiter all day with that nice sound (not as good as the old 4AGE - but still worthy)

as you said - it would be quite a lot less headache for the poster to simply buy a 1.8 corolla - they were not liked by the Pakistani public because of high tax bracket and also the false notion of "pitrol peeta hai"

I doubt you will find a 2AZ-FE in Front wheel drive form in Pakistan, no scrappie buys it, I have seen some pictures of scrappies importing its van version - but be wary that it has a design defect in it - on which I actually made a thread here in PW about fixing it - the design defect is stripping out the threads in the cylinder block on the intake side - toyota designers goofed up on that one - they only provide 1 inch of threads in the block while the bolt has 3 inches of it, the thermal cycling strips out the poor threads.

The original and early XRS corolla had the crazy grade 1.8 litre 2ZZ-GE engine which is now used in Lotus cars too, the later ones use the 2.4 litre 2AZ-FE engine from the camry - which is not even 10% exciting as the 2ZZ-GE was.

@Xulfiqar , can you give me the assurance that 2ZZ-GE could be installed in my Xli.
