Default JDM Corolla 94 SELimited,Automatic, Fuel Average

    AOA,
I recently was handed a JDM Corolla 94, SELimited, Automatic, apart from other problems I was irked by the high fuel consumption (8-8.5/ km).
After tuneups, changing plugs, injectors not much has changed and fuel average remains almost same as before. I also noticed some gear shifting issues,
as the car jerks a little when put in D. Which was noticed after an oil seal was changed in the gear box may be. I get the RPM adjusted under 1 on RMP
meter but after a while it races back to 1+ position. The car has presumably a mileage of over 100,000 kms but the engine is in good condition and had no
problem taking it up to high speeds of 120+.
Are there any experts/owners here of the same car who can give some insights/feedback/suggestions on this?

I have 4af carb jdm engine it gives about 10 to 11 manual even its carb your car should give more than that.
I also think that its gear shifting issue.

It has a 5A-FE EFI engine that is supposed to give 8 ltr/100 km fuel average which is
roughly 13 km/ltr but 8-8.5 km/ltr is pretty low. Do I need to get a mechanic to look into
the gear shifting to reset it's timing. I don't know of a competent mechanic who can do that
    in Islamabad/Pindi area.

No matter how much u tune it, it won't give u better mileage than 8km or 9km/l. Automatic variant has 3 speed gear box. If u go for manual only than ur mileage will drastically improve.

I finally got it in much better position than before, now I am getting a whole lot better fuel consumption (12-14 km/L).
    Here is what I did:
    1. Replaced the Injectors and the Power Plugs, got it tuned up
    2. Replaced the TF and used original Toyota oil
    3. Adjusted the tranmission cable which fixed most of the late gear switching issues

The jerk in D is now gone, gears change smoothly and in time.
