Default RPM drops on Petrol even carburetor & Butterfly repaired Cultus VXR

    Dear All,

I had the issue of non stable RPM, after servicing of Carburetor and Butterfly, Issue is still there, When I give race to car, and RPM goes to 5-7K, then immediately after lifting race, RPM goes to zero, and car shutdown.

I have no clue what is issue. Please respond asap.

As I described earlier, that during two-three back, I went to Universal Autos, Ichra Lahore, person did the overhaul of "Head" including change of Gasket, seals, Venchery and many more.

I have still same issue. I could not find any leakage in pipes, car works smooth on CNG but give problem on petrol.

I have few advices that also I am applying, I think even doing all such things, my conclusion is that there is ONLY setting issue with petrol nothing else.

I am still facing issue, but trying to find a good mechanic to do Petrol setting. Because if there was issue with "Head/seals" etc then car must have problem even on CNG. Lets see and pray that I could find a solution for this soon. Inshah Allah

If there is issue with Gasket, then you will find water drops in engine oil, Just pull up the oil checking still from engine, and see the water drops. you will find the answer.

Alright i will check that tomorrow inshaAllah.
Lets see tomorrow if the mechanic is able to come up with a solution changing the gasket or doing anything else..

we are both facing same issue, same car lol. I hope we get the solution asap.
And btw did you get your fuel pump checked? I told the mechanic to do mines but he only checked the fuel pressure which was fine.

What should I check with fuel pump, as per my knowledge fuel pump give only fuel pressure or fuel supply, its doing. And as in you case, it is also working fine (give fuel supply with suitable pressure).

    Any suggestion???

finally the ustaad was able to find the fault. there was a problem with the slow jet. However, still the car does go off after remaining a stable like RPM for abt 20 seconds(without pressing accelerator).

i had absolutely same situation that you guys had on my mehran. car was perfect on cng but sucked on petrol. avg was bad. after much of hassle of running around with mechanics and spending fortune i sold the car. it was bought by the same mechanic who ripped me off. that MF bought the car from me and replaced carb with kabli one and sold car to another person. now i see that car on and off when i go to market and car is running fine on petrol and cng as i asked the new owner. I still miss that car and curse that mechanic. so the conclusion is get a new carb from bilal ganj; will cost 10,000 for mehran and 15-20,000 for cultus. change the carb or R.I.P. these quacks cant repair carbs which are made perfect by highest level of engineering; they just cant.

    @mahmad83

This issue is quite common in carby cars running on CNG & occasionaly used on petrol. U need to find some carb specialist ( which seems next to impossible) Believe me the issue is within the 2~3 points as mentioned by @Xulfiqar either its dash pot, wrong float hieght, or the leaked vacum circuit. one & half year back i bought a used 2005 VXR Cultus which was having same i issue in my case the culprit were float hieght & missing dash pot screw. Since i was having a bit DIY experience so i managed to to do it my self. So rather having diffrent dainosis & opinions of diffrent mechanics just disccus with them that u need to get those mentioned things checked & if some one is willing to do in the way u instruct then proceed.

One your car is sfixed, star using good quality air filters and make sure it seals properly. That will prevent such problems re occuring any time soon. It is the dust that gradually goes in and gring aroiund like sand paper.

    Hi Guys

I am getting the same problem. Anybody know a person in pindi/ibd who could do a decent job of carburetor. I am tired of going to the mechanic every day.

The problem I am facing even after spending almost 40k on car full engine overhaul, including:

    - New oil pump, fuel pump, carb kit, carb butterfly, pistons, head service and list goes on & on.....

Now, my car gives black smoke, petrol smells high, avg is just extremely bad, car sounds so bad and jerks, unstable RPM.

I went to the same mechanic who did the engine overhaul, but he is just unable to done the carb right, and said 'Dhuan Khud Hi Theek Ho jayey Ga' even after the overhaul I have driven about 2000 kms till now.

If there is some nice enough to tell the Carb Vacuum diagram, float settings so I can do it by myself.

the carb cannot be fixed by a mechanic, he is only good at removing and putting it back. It has to be fixed by a carb specialist, I feel very sorry that your engine was over hauled because of problems in the carb.... you could have bought a brand new carb for very less.. you almost spent a fortune...black smoke is because of rich fueling. I cannot recommend you any thing because I don't have experience of any carb specialists. but search the forums...

also in that thread the solution to the problem is discussed where the car stalls as soon as raise is given and then suddenly accelerates... they call it.. Ghut ker uthti hey.... that is due to a clogged part in the carb explained in the thread I posted above. Cleaning all dirty components will solve these problems.. However if butterfly has play then it will need to be replaced.

Doing this DIY will be a great challenge but worth it and once you do it you will conquer your carb. I am again very sorry that your mechanic overhauled your rather new engine just because of symptoms that clearly yell out loud that its a carb problem... you could have been saved in less than 2K which would involve carb service...

A bad engine is always diagnosed with compression testing... how can you say that an engine is bad when its giving black smoke...

Also you could look into fuel delievery issues by checking the fuel pressure being fed to carb. fuel filter could be clogged...
