<HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #c7e2f0; COLOR: #c7e2f0" SIZE=1>was it right side axil? or left?
fitting directional seals on the opposite sides will cause oil leaks - like what happened to you.
left side axils are a bit short in length and right ones are devided into two parts, like the right one's innner axil is fitted into the gear box and it has no balls and cup just splines on both sides, one spline side fits into the defferntial gears and the other side is fitted into the right side cup/ball(goda) which further extends and comes near the wheel where the outer cup/ball (goda) is fitted. And yes i was sure they have hammered the right axil because it has to leave the cup/balls (inner Goda) and a cirlip often become the cause to fix the shaft splines inside the cup(inner goda).i will attach some pics which might help you to understand.
The thing xulfiqar told you is also a major neglegence of our mechanis,if you observe keenly, you will find some slanting marks on the oil seal lip, which meant for rotation, wrong rotation would surely cause a leak.
