I also faced the dilemma of to do or not, my cousin Ractis had a broken headlight cover, it had gone dull and light was nothing. Checked the market for headlights but nothing found, One person told us the he could arrange these for us @ 14 or 16Ks per piece. Amount being too much i asked him to let me manage these. I have a friend his father owns a business of chrome plating, i was pretty confident that i would have these light bases chrome plated and then cover would be sanded to clear and give way to the light, I had these lights opened by a denter and took the reflectors to the friends' factory, to my amazement i was told that being made of plastic these couldnt be chrome plated (instead a technique called shot chroming dont remember exact thing would be done) took these to another factory and got it done. Results were not ideal (with occasional grains (spots) in the finish, but otherwise these light are pretty much good now.
Now the issue is that their transparent plastic cover gone pale and no matter whatever we do does not give a clear shine. i am thinking of a way to have these covers molded with glass (i wonder if that would be possible)
But its the beauty of hobbies and passion that you think and let your imagination go wild and you do it. And all for the satisfaction of your inner self.
Purpose of the post is to let you people know that if there is a thing part that you want to be chrome plated (really good quality) it is possible whether its made of metal or plastic. This offer of course would be applied to the parts who are not easy to get and have to be re furbished.
