The Corona you are referring to is T-140 Taxi version. In Asean countries Toyota deployed it as TAXI only in Diesel engines. A rear wheel drive car with enough muscle in diesel to work above 270,000 km without fail (with proper maintenance)
modern day (Year 2000 & later) EFI engines require electronic sensors connected to ECU for Front engine Front wheel drive cars.
I suggest you visit nearest yards and see what Toyota engines are available with transmission for a REAR Wheel drive cars, do survey in detail to ascertain financial fact. Engine & transmission swap to newer EFI engine(s) with wiring ECU and sensors will cost you close to 200,000 including labour. add another 20,000 for power steering so the final figure you are looking at is approx 250,000 & above.
last but not least 1.6 or 1.8 engine is BEST for This Corona anything below leaves you wondering what has gone wrong with power economy and you will end UP full of regrets.
