this morning i heard weird sounds coming from the engine bay to my surprise there was a reptile in the engine bay took quite an effort to get it out. I was expecting the engine will not start as these things love to chew on plastics and cables but it did. When i got on the road and drove above 2000 rpm or 80km/h the check engine light came on :(. It went away after i switched the car of again and then turned it on. This thing bugged so much. Checked all the visible sensors but they were okay. Thought of getting a computer scan as i couldn't see any obvious damaged wires or sensors. Was a bit confused but took it to the mechanic who over hauled it. First of all he reved the engine to see the chek engine light then disconnected the battery terminal and reconnected it that didnt work then he checked all the senors at the top and then he began to look deeper around the block and found a grip attached with a broken sensor top.He said that you have a broken knocking sensor. Then after quite of a hassle he took out the sensor and asked me for replacement or repaired he told me that he can repair it. He fixed it and re installed it after fixing it . it worked no more check engine light .Today i came to know about another thing of a car the "knocking sensor" thanks to the [h=3]Saara hardwickii (sanda).[/h]

Hmm sanda can be a great monogram for some engine lubricant of the sub continent btw

The old Headgasket Replaced it with a Honda genuine one ( identical) the mechanic did not apply any gasket sealant it was bit of a surprise for me asked him he told me no need of sealant because its metal gasket. Goggled it and found that he was right

UPDATE
5 K done no over heats no stalls no lack of power no leaks , milage 14- 15 km /l with chilling ac. Coolant level same ( since i changed it) didnt had to top up caltex coolant is good it doesn't evaporate. Drove it continuously between bw 140 -160km/h on the motorway no problems or funny smells or sounds. Reved it hard going up hill kallar kahar just to check no problems at all felt torque all the way up hill.
Will get the oil changed soon its colorstill yellowish.The mechanic did a good job I was scared that it wouldn't even do a 1000 km after reading the scary comments here :). Honda VTEC Overhauls are not always bad as perceived by people.

Well you can't rule out the facts. Shaving the head will leave you with changed timing. Anyhow its good to see first happy engine overhaul.

but it didn't had that much effect on mileage and performance. even new cars have non factory timing when they get cnged. there is always troom for improvement thats for sure.

by timing afnan means the compression timing - your overall block and head height is now shorter which will cause the cam to have retard timing. If your mechanic shaved the pistons your ring land to top clearance is now shorter which can cause serious carboning on the ring lands unless you use a full synthetic oil

You may have never experienced it but I have seen it a number of times.

the head can only be shaved very slightly if only the cam line bore is not out of true, Even then for metal gasket engines you require a finish of 50RA or better which means really shiny - you can achieve that with 800 wet and dry paper on a 1/2 inch glass sheet.

The old paper gasket engines require a rougher finish to have some tooth in it so it can actually bite the gasket.
