On August 30 2009 in the evening news, at many news channels, it was reported that the 2 natural gas companies Sui Southern & Sui Northern Gas have requested OGRA to consider permenant Ban on use of CNG on Vehicles. This recommendation will be tabled in cabinet meeting by OGRA representatives upon return of PM from Libya, and will be presented in parliament session sometime after Ramaadan.
The alternate fuel recommended by both the gas companies is LPG for use in vehicles. The stance is placed floated based on premise that consumption of CNG has increased by 1000 times in past 10 years and the gas reserves have depleted 30 times faster then projected. If the rise in use of CNG remain at this level the domestic user will start to loose the gas pressure even in summers.
Guys this is alarming, with the Petrol & diesel at the same price, there goes any day that this Democratic Govt will announce ban on CNG and give a time frame to convert to LPG or use Petrol only.
I request members to hunt out more information in this respect so that a strategy is planned ahead of time before the ban comes into affect at 24 hours notice.
