Sulphur in Diesel fuel usually has the following effects on an engine:
Damages catalytic convertors in diesel engines. This increases pollutant production. If this were Europe, it would have been a problem, but not here in Pk.
Increases the amount of acid in engine oil quicker. Thus oil changes should be done much more often than noted in the owner's manual. In Europe, oil changes can be around 30,000 kms. Here, 3000 kms should be the limit.
Sulphur actually acts as a lubricant for fuel injection systems, thus saving these parts from damage. So in a way, Sulphur is good for the oily bits.
The damage to fuel injection equipment stems probably not from the quantity of sulphur, but the quantity of water and dirt in the diesel fuel. These two things are an injection systems' sworn enemies. I'd probably add a water separator and an extra fuel filter between the tank and the engine if I had an Accord in Pk, or any other Common Rail Diesel car for that matter.
Where to find such a filter? Maybe from a truck spares supplier? ^o)
