A Nissan TD42 rebuild costs around 70, suspension work around 40, this with Genuine Nissan Parts, use anything else, though you will be saving a lot of money, but the vehcile will just fall apart in a matter months.

Source: Personal experience, 2 rebuilds in a year! Had a rebuild done because the engine was loosing power, the next thing i know i have three pistons melted on the motorway because i used cheap parts! so had the second one done with Original Nissan Parts, till to this day not a hitch.

Guys, Some explaination would be helpful here for the uninitiated. As I understand, you can change the body and engine parts by purchasing these in the market, and as long as the chasis remains the same it is legal enough. There is a process to change the engine number of the car based on the receipt/chit that you get from the spare parts dealer who sells you the engine.

But from what I read above, it is possible to get Safari engine, body parts, suspension, drivetrain changed in Quetta (and possibly Peshawar as well). Obviously, for Toyota you can get all that done from the dealer behind your local pan shop these days..... but then again there are spare parts and there are parts.

We have been looking for body parts for the full sized Cherokee/Wagoneer and have heard unconfirmed stories that these are abundantly available in Quetta. Also generally, it would be very helpful if someone from Quetta/Karachi can enlighted us on how/if that market different from Peshawar.

I was out buying a Shogun a few days ago and talked to several dealers in the DHA Lahore area. Their response to me was that a body swap makes the ride 1.5 number UNLESS the donor is the same year/shape and model. I don't know if one should believe in what they said or not, but I wouldn't risk a few lakhs of my hard earned money on suspicion. Having said that, I know for a fact that body change SUVs don't have strong resale, for whatever silly reason.
