I fail to understand the writing of "R A K" on the back of 98% FX taxi cabs in rawalpindi islamabad. On inquiring the drivers of these cabs, they themselves don't know why this combination is there. Anyone has a clue ???

May be its a secret code between Owners and Police / City management. The drivers are oblivious of its meaning. Or it is an unofficial sort of route permit issued by Police.

Or it stand for 'Ras Al Khaimah' as many taxi drivers idealize UAE as a good place to work.

but few months back i asked a taxi guy

he was not confident.....but he said it was done some 1 who started this cab work in isb/rawlp

many years ago these all R A K taxies belong to some khan who started these cabs in rwp/ISB i think in 80s
"K" stands for KHAN

told by a taxi driver.

RAK was put on taxis back in the day which were rebuilt by Rustam the famous denter in Pindi. his name is Rustam A Khan (don't know what the A atands for).

he told me this in 1999 when he was building my 68 speedster,.. now how much of this is true i don't know but i have heard this from quite a few people till now as well.

i'm guessing he used to put them on the cars as a "nishani" of his build quality but then all the cabs started doing it.

kind of how many XLi have altis badges on them.

yep yep i have also seen lexus vitz .... finishing was so bad that u could still see the toyota engravings behind the new lexus badge.....was looking awkward.....whats wrong with these people....:S.
