yea, a typical tatic used by salesmen. "ooooo dublicate stamp on it." or page 1 is gone. like when yr buying a car you check for dents same way you chk book for dents too:). some people can manage to drive nice cars without books and some people need a book even when the car is useless.
so problem varies from owner to owner and where one drives,, some parts of country you can even commute without a book.
i would have docs at reg office checked, and make sure car is ready for transfer to my name instantly, before i give any advance cash on my purchase. Not listening to others yes can be done, this that go there go here. There are lot of nice cars on road people would admire and would take pics off, but are without real docs
