Okay, I have something to say...
This is an excellent package design of a small car, really. My hat's off to the design team, wherever from they hail.
Now, this is an extreme cab forward design, only possible if the engine is in the back, like the air intake in front of the rear wheel suggests on the lime green car.
This however, is clearly an early prototype with some production issues, such as, there is no cutline for the front or rear bumpers; not feasible for production, as the repair costs would be more than 1 lakh!
Now as I said, it is a design with very efficient space utilization with the wheels all the way at the extremities and a tall cab for maximizing the interior to exterior volume. This is EXACTLY the architecture needed for cars in developing nations like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and India.
Now, it is possible to do this for 1 lakh, but here are some of the compromises that would enable such a low cost:
- Very low durability engine.
- Poor fuel consumption, despite small displacement.
- Very unsafe due to very low power to weight ratio=ultra slow pick.
- Hand layed fiberglass has low tooling cost, but is very heavy.
- No safety engineered body shell: Crumple zones, etc.
- Poor lighting-very unsafe at night.
- Loud with very poor vibration/sound concerns...Every road bump will be like a tabla.
- Paint that will peel in less than a year in the hot desi sun.
The list can go on and on and on...But I REALLY like the overall theme.
