    genius83 yes i was talking about that interview of Felipe Massa and Nelson piquet junior. If Renault cheated will they be removed fom sigapore race only from last year? They can have a fine this year and also ban come into effect if charges are proved. How can they cheat so much i do not understand. Does that mean Ferrari lollypop man was involved in cheating aswell but FIA president max mosley hate Renault manager very much and i think he is making trouble for Renault bfore he is leaving formula one. Mercedes is buying a sharee in Brawn gp team why? Mclaren is there with Mercedes benz. Why are they spending more money when everyone is leaving formula one? Luca Baoer said in one interview that media made him lose Ferrari drive. He will tell him grand children proudly that he drive Ferrari car in two races. He is shameeless how can he tell anyone about how he drive two races in last place and how is is happy about it.

    @Shehryaar

    Yes all punishments could be possible because they are accused of bigger crime then McLaren's Spy-Gate or Lie-Gate where only one team or driver were affected. Here one crash have affects the whole grid's strategy apart from some driver's who are on a longer first pitstop strategy. As for whether Ferrari's pitlight incident was also because of this is a bit far fetched but I think all those members of last season's discussion remember that I have critcise Ferrari's calling of both cars in the pits same time during safety car sessions in the races and this incident proves that this strategy was wrong. One have to understand that teams are in a hurry to release their cars early to get back to the track as soon as possible with out loosing too many places behind a safety car and on a street track safety car chances are higher then on race tracks. Also remember that behind a safety car Fuel mileage increase as speed decreases so every team have a chance of calling their one driver at a time it also increases the safety of the pits crew too.

    Mercedes is investing in the f1 more because they for now have the best engine on the grid.

    genius83 i read very nice article on planetf1 about Renault case and writer makes very solid points.

    http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3261_5538903,00.html

    One point i want to add also is why Nelson piquet spin on lap 15 and not lap 13 to help his team. Second we have to remember that Nelson piquet have spun more times in formula one then any new driver. He always make a mistake when racing but if proof is there of wrong doing by Renault then very severe punishment must be given. Bernie eccelstone is scared Renault can leave formula one because of punishment so he will it try influencing the punishment. I think it is only Nelson Piquet making allegations because if you read the article the write say that he might be promised a 2009 contract in which case Renault would be scared and keep him also he can blackmail the team for longer. My other argument is that what about other race cases? Was result not fixed in many more races and every one call it strategy. Mclaren drivers David coulthard and Mika Hakkinen did in 1998 and also many other races. Massa is very right presure is getting to Button. One more bad race and i am thinking he will be losing this years championship for sure to team mate Rubens Barrichello.

    Expel them from the championship if it's proven without doubt. Flavio Britore is capable of anything while Pat Symonds, that's a difficult one. Although he was part of the original cheating team formed at Benetton, he has been someone who is widely respected. He did not follow others in joining Schumacher at Ferrari despite the lucrative offers. But i say expel Renault, if it's proven beyond doubt, not only from this years championship and next year as well.

    Interestingly enough, whatever evidence that has come to light so far and the stories being carried out by Autosport , do not imply anywhere that the man who gained the most from Piquet's crash, Alonso, had no role to play in it. That begs the question what his reaction will be if there is any substance in these allegations. Would he see out whatever number of races he has got left with Renault? I should think not. Move over Fisi!

    Piquet Jr is done, finished. No one will touch him with a ten foot pole after this episode. A wan**r like his father.
    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    Pre-race meeting key to Renault Singapore case

    A meeting between Nelson Piquet, Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds hours before last year's Singapore Grand Prix is central to the race fixing allegations surrounding the Renault team, AUTOSPORT has learned.

    With the FIA's World Motor Sport Council due to meet on September 21 for Renault to answer charges that the team caused a deliberate crash in Singapore last year to help Fernando Alonso win, sources have confirmed for the first time background details of the case.

    AUTOSPORT understands that key to what happened in the race is the discussion that took place in one of Renault's offices at the Singapore track on the Sunday, where race tactics were discussed between Piquet, team principal Briatore and director of engineering Symonds.
    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    Unclekracker you are very much right about Falvio Britore if he can be doing this to win one race he can do anything to win a championship. He was part of cheating team he was manager of team. Biggest punishment must be awarded to Renault and to Nelson piquet junior who was part of the plan he have cheated either by telling the truth and part of the plan or he is cheating by making stories because he have been dismissed by Renault. Fernando alonso will quit Renault if they are found guilty but he will drive for Ferrari this season you are saying?

    Domenicali not expecting Monza win

    Ferrari will have to rely on its rivals slipping up if it is to follow its Spa triumph with a win in front of its home fans at Monza, reckons team boss Stefano Domenicali.

    Fisichella could still race in 2010

    Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali says Giancarlo Fisichella could continue racing with another team in 2010 alongside his role as Ferrari's reserve driver.

    Williams and Force India rejoin FOTA

    Williams and Force India have been re-admitted into the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) in a meeting at Monza today.

    Lola unveils 2010 Formula 1 car

    B10/30 design makes its debut at Huntingdon open day.

    - Formula 1 - Season 2009 - -991094

    The most important thing that should be noted is the comment by Pat Symonds in the news article posted by @UK. This is the comment

    "Symonds is also reported as saying:
    "It's true, during the Sunday meeting with Piquet the issue of deliberately causing a SC deployment came up, but it was proposed by Piquet himself. It was just a conversation."

    Now if Renault found guilty of cheating then expelling them from this and next season is the right punishment and also they should not be allowed to return to F1 even in 2011 if they want to continue with Flavio Briatore as Team Boss so that Renault are force to fire Flavio from the team. The Singapore GP 2008 should be excluded from the 2008 championship and been termed as a non championship GP like we used to have some non-championship GP in the history. The result should remain intact and the points taken by each driver and team will be part of their career but not 2008 championship.

    All the above punishments should only applied if Renault are found guilty but if they are found not-guilty then what happens. Does Flavio and Renault sue Nelson Piquet's family for trying to give a bad name to them?? Nelson Piquet jnr is in much more bg trouble apart from whatever the result of Crash-Gate incident because either way he will be punished for bringing the sport into dispute. What punishment you guys think would be teach him a lesson which he never forgets. I think he should be punished more heavily then the team. Here is my suggestion of punishment for him:

    "Cancellation of Super License for atleast 2 years starting from next year and also not allowed to take part in any kind of junior level motorsport for that amount of time so when he again applied for Super License first he have to proved that he is good at junior level. A big amount of fine to be paid to Renault if his allegations against them are found a blatant lie."

    Now back to racing Williams and Force India rejoining FOTA is a good sign specially for Williams who wants a Renault engine also if Renault are excluded from the championship they could remain in F1 with the help of supplying engines to Williams and this certainly help Williams who could get a total technical assitance from Renault without paying big amount of money.

    Piquet`s statement is a self indictment which ever way the case goes from here. He was a party to it, even if it was not his idea and he is shafted if he came up with the story. He admits in his statement that he repeatedly asked the team which lap he was on, the team didn't get on the radio and inform him. This radio conversation will be available to the FIA, plus the telemetry of his car will have tell tale signs. Either way, his future as a racing driver looks bleak. He received bad advice from who ever it was that made him go to the FIA. He might or might not have cut a deal with them in return for providing this information, but no team will be interested in him. They would not have been interested in him anyway. Funny that he says, he was made to sign an option which didn't allow him to talk to other teams. I wonder which other team was interested in his services

    The already confused driver market has just become even more confusing. If Renault are excluded from next year's championship, where would Kubica end up who has been linked with a move to the team. If Ferrari waits yet one more year for Alonso to make the switch, very unlikely almost impossible, then where will Alonso go for one year. With Renault being excluded, i don't know if they will be able to or interested in suppling engines to any team.

    @Shehryaar

    No, i don't think Alonso would be in a Ferrari this season. I was only joking about the "move over Fisi bit" He will be in a Ferrari next year though. He is an intelligent person and will not jump in a car which he has not driven, without any testing. I think he will sit out the rest of the season if Renault are excluded, which they should be if the case is proved against them. Many races have been fixed in the past, you mentioned the 1998 Oz GP, there are many more after it.
    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    I have one question why Renault would opt to stay out of engine supplying agreements for next season if they would excluded for this and next season. Renault has remain in F1 by supplying engines even when they don't have their team and their past partnership with Williams is a good example. Also why Renault as a company should be banned is it not wrong to accused them of fixing the race, did Renault CEO was present when the alleged race fixing conference held just before the Singapore GP, if not then why?? If Renault get a ban for fixing a race then Mercedes should also get a ban for having part of Spy-Gate.

    Renault would not be in a position to supply engines on many counts. For starters, If Renault are found guilty and expelled from either this year or next year's championship than how can they supply engines to any team? It's the same team and engine, same company designs the chassis that makes the engine. You can`t separate one from the other. Who knows how deep the conspiracy goes, if there was one. By the same token, in the spy gate scandal, only a few people were involved, then they should have been fined and not the Mclaren team. So here one would argue that only Flavio Briatore, Pat Symonds and Piquet Jr should be fined, expelled, punished etc? Renault appointed Flavio as the manager of the team, Pat Symonds has been there for a very long time. We can't have one set of rules for one team and another set of rules for another team. That has happened a lot in the past with separate rules applying to Ferrari and totally different rules applying to the rest of the teams as it became evident later on with the secret veto etc that Ferrari had.

    Renault has come out with a statement finally and started criminal proceedings against both the father and son in France, and reported the matter to police in England. That would indicate that Renault might be feeling confident about their position. If proven otherwise, in these tough financial times, it will give Renault the perfect opportunity to get out of F1, especially if they lose their team leader as all expect they will by the end of November .

    Rubens Barrichello talking to the media yesterday said , he felt someone was out there to get Flavio. I wonder who might that person be, perhaps the man who was framed by another team boss with five prostitutes Mosley got his revenge when Dennis had to step down so that Mclaren would escape a big penalty after the liar gate issue. Flavio Britore was the man in charge of negotiating with different track officials should the break away series go ahead. The matter was resolved but it cost Mosley his job. He agreed not to stand for re-election in October. Now comes this little gem from Mosley, as suspected, Piquet has been given immunity by the FIA from any action. So, either way the case is settled, FIA won't be taking any action against him. Whether he ever finds a racing seat anywhere else ever again is a different issue. Anyway, here is what Mosley said;

    Mosley, who has presumably seen all the evidence gathered so far, held a briefing at 11am in which he said that Renault’s defence case, due shortly, must contain more than what the investigators were able to glean from their interviews, “I think that one must expect there to be more,”

    The FIA investigators, aided by independent investigators Quest, have already spoken to Briatore and Symonds and have submitted that evidence. Reading between the lines, Mosley is suggesting that Renault’s case will need to find more for their defense in the material due shortly.

    Mosley confirmed that Piquet has been granted immunity from prosecution, much as Fernando Alonso was in 2007 when he was encouraged to come forward with emails which showed that knowledge of the Ferrari data went deeper into McLaren than the team was letting on.

    “We have said to him that, and I don’t know exactly how it was phrased, but he has been told that if he tells us the truth then he will not be proceeded against individually. It is exactly the same as it was for Alonso.”

    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.
