    Default In my 70cc I got 5th gear "maza" but lost 1st gear power

    Hi all.
    Originally the Drive Chain sprockets were 14 and 41 teeth front and rear respectively.
    I bought 17 (Rs 85) and 34 (Rs 180) teeth sprockets (Rs 100 labor) and now my motorcycle runs at much lower revs at the same speed. Each gear is one step higher. First is second etc. 4th is a true fifth. Great lower sound at high speed.
    Lost hard acceleration. Got relaxed engine. Less oil churning means less energy lost in oil and more efficiency. Sometimes there is knocking in first gear. Im happy. Anyone want to try this? I ride at 40 km/h, now I do 50 with easy engine sound. Economy still 70 km/ltr there about. Need to remeasure.

    No doubt it will add some extra load on engine but it is not a big issue, one has to compromise some where. agar apka engine pehlay 10 saal chalna tha to samjhain kay ab 9 saal chal ja ay ga :-) so what?

    Thanks a lot Xplorer for the encouraging words
    Imranbhatti, the summer is hot, my engine will be even hotter at low rev, thick 60 (or 70 due to additive) will thin out less and keep providing good slippage. BTW I change oil at every 1000 km for sure. Might reduce the interval in summer peak.
    Xplorer your words give me comfort.

    Mine is a 1986 point model, and the meter has turned over. So Im already well into bonus years. I love this 70 and will not let go due to economy its still giving me, like first day, after 25 years of use.

    What about.... if we don't accelerate the engine harder on first 3 gears …. Then whats the opinion about the engine heat problem..coz I live in Multan.. and the temperature is hotter with the city traffic jams…& also i just talk with the mechanic..he said the pick of the bike is not good in 4th gear... Kheta hai key Ghari Bath jatii hai 4ty mian...

    @h3llzang3l
    Yes 4th is for cruising, not accelerating.
    @BlueHorn
    When you go from lahore hotel to laxhmi turn left from signal, montgomery road. Its a shop on right with large blue board, american filter centre 03008871199 042 36374231
    Just a few shops before filter house and just before atm machine.
    I think its kwaiti oil.

    @h3llzang3l
    For cool engine,
    1. Remove all extra mud guards.
    2. Keep engine clean, remove any mud from tappet covers and bottom etc.
    3. Keep good tuning, good air fuel mixture in carb.
    4. Full tire pressure. 30-40 at least
    5. Dont drive above 60 in 4th.
    6. Dont carry a passenger all the time.
    7. Turn engine off at red light.
    8. Air filter should be clean.
    9. Petrol should be good.
    10. Engine oil level near full mark.
    11. Regular engine oil change every 1000 km at most.
    12. Good tappet adjustment.

    I can come up with these points to keep engine cool.

    13. Dont follow behind other vehicles, allow clear air to hit engine.

    14. Steady acceleration is always better than hard acceleration for all parts.

    I feel sorry for you for the waste of time and money (1000 is a lot).
    I, on the other hand, am very happy.
    In my 4th I cant go below 35. My 4th maintains speed mostly and increases speed also when required.
    I wonder what went wrong. I hope tire pressure was full. I wonder if fuel mixture was proper and tuning was good.
    All I can do is convey my sympathies. What I had thought would work well for others has turned out to be total flop in one case at least.

    There is no doubt that honda company did a lot of research before deciding original settings. They selected the best. No doubt.

    My aim of alteration was not an increase in top speed (my 70 never goes above 80 km/h).
    My aim was to use same speed, 40 or 50, but engine running more relaxed. I got my aim.
    Definitely speed is very dangerous and can kill very easily.

    If I do this alteration on my son's or brother's bike, I will give very strict warning to him never to go above 60 km/h.
