After much hesitation and a lot of thought i finally decided to replace my genuine sprockets 41/14 with 35/15.
Installation
Well the installation was fairly simple, obviously the chain had to be shortened. Although the amount of hammering
involved (''USTAD''), i was afraid the chain might get a little weak.
Experience
My experience with the new sprockets gear wise.
- 1st = Definitely more longer than previous, however a very slight reduction in speed. Shifted to 2nd at 30km/r
- 2nd= Very slight or almost no change, very minutely longer. Shifted to 3rd at about 55km/hr
- 3rd = Now this is where the magic started, felt the real power of the engine the bike almost shot. On stock the 3rd gear was almost non existent but now it packed a punch. Went from 55 to 80km/h (GPS speed).
- 4th = For a moment i had forgotten i had a 4th gear. However when i shifted to it the experience was not satisfactory bike got flat, it was cruising at 85km/hr, the RPM was quite low as if the engine was applying very little force.
The maximum speed i got was 88km/h(GPS speed not the meter one) and i could maintain it relatively easily.
Positives
Phenomenal Power in 3rd gear.
Low RPM in 4th gear
Negatives
Top speed not as much as i expected.
However I am satisfied with it.
Moral: No replacement for displacement;).
