UPDATE 26-7-2014 - Bike has hit 967KM so decided to do some maintenance (im avoiding mechanics this time)

    Changed oil with..

    Blessed with a Suzuki GS150 -1451838

It is Caltex Delo Gold Ultra 15w-40w heavy duty engine oil(for diesel engines, price 1870PKR/4L). Let the comments come

Some of you might know that i dropped the bike a month back and some battery acid got on the frame. Today on inspection found that the acid had completely EATEN the paint and the metal beneath was exposed. So decided to do some repairs myself (noob). Paint used was regular metal paint with gloss finish. Didnt do a professional job, im really inexperienced and learning.

    Blessed with a Suzuki GS150 -1451839

Have oiled the chain with caltex thuban gear oil and cleaned and oiled up air filter as well. Main post updated with the electrical issue

    Bhai diesel engine oil kyunn?
Khali 15w-40 dekh k ly lia ha kia? Api sj/sf rating nahien dekhi?

It is for totally different type oil engine man.. why risk it with ur new bike? Agar 15w-40 ka he showk hora tha tou Shell Ax5 use krlena tha is a quite good oil.. (if original)

No man. I know i cannot explain it properly because of my limited knowledge but after going through tons of foreign bike forums, and especially BobIsTheOilGuy motorcycle forums, i decided to give heavy duty engine oil (HDEO) a chance. A lot of sports bike, street bike riders swear by using HDEOs in their bikes, notably Chevron/Caltex Delo, Shell Rotella/Rimula, and Mobil1 Delvac. I know it would come as a shock to people here. I have always used quality motorcycle oil (liqui moly, kixx, zic(its ok)) so i gave a lot of thought to this.

You can search on google on using shell rotella/rimula, caltex/chevron delo in motorcycles, you'll get your answers. If you're curious about this i can explain in greater detail. As for API rating it's API SL certified

How come the delo gold be API-SL? Isnt it a diesel engine oil? As far as i can see, diesel engine oils use API ratings that usually starts with 'C' (e.g. CH, CI, CJ), whereas the gasoline engine oils use the initial 'S' (e.g. SF, SG, SH).

Its an all-fleet engine oil so it has to meet API standards as well(for diesel its CI-4 rated), and it's exactly this reason that it's safe for use in gasoline engines. It contains high amounts of zinc and phosphorus which are old-fashioned additives for metal-metal contact protection. Im using it after reading glowing reviews on BITOG and numerous other motorcycle forums.

I have not done any riding since pouring in this oil :p haha so much for oil change! Will cover 30kms tomorrow and that will hopefully help me evaluate the performance. Btw its not cheqp replacement of motorcycle oil. Its almost 500/ltr. Shell ax5 15-40 is 420pkr. Im trying it because of chemical properties(it does not contain friction modifiers, high on zinc and phosphorus, and is supposed to be used in turbo engines). Turbos spool up to 150k rpm

@fanno_ I have used Delo Gold for 150KM now and no issues. Still i wouldnt advise others to try experimenting with diesel oils.

i guess these Diesel oils doesn't have energy conservative additives like car oils, so at least no risk of clutch slippage.

I am sticking to Zic 4T 20W-40 for now. 1700Km done and it still maintains its viscosity. Though colour is totally dark now and i can feel the suspended soot when rubbing the oil between fingers. Gonna complete 2000Km this time.

    LOL at imported Diesel oil
anyway, i am now noticing another variant of Zic 4T 20W-40 in market which is semi-synthetic. May be for next oil change, i'll try it.
