This Auto Cross was either cursed or the track was too difficult. My friend's city had an accident yesterday at the practice rounds, crossed over to the other side hitting the pavement on the way.
I saw today's accidents live, the RX-8 accident made no sense, he just flew over to the other side of the road - the front bumper caught in the isle. Busted radiator leaking all the way till the end of the track where the car came to a stop (have pictures)
There were also two more accidents, one was a blue Corolla, which a few people were driving - some suspension issue with the right front wheel. The other one was the black Swift GTi of Almondjoy, he also rammed into the pavement.
Most people were unable to finish half of their rounds (DNF) and there was no tire grip thanks to the cold weather which did not help the drivers in pacing through the extra twisty lap today.
Have some pictures of the cars which I'll upload tomorrow.
Since my message might disappoint the readers about the event, I'll mention the up-side to today's event:
- Shahmeel's beast of an Rx7 is back and blowing flames like never before, i think he did the fastest time of the night and was a treat to watch.
- For the first time there was an Audi participating in the Autocross today. A4 which was a big car but the driver had skill and was doing good time
- The current women's champion Sonia Khuhro was beaten today in her category by my friend Urooj Mumtaz Khan. Urooj was driving a Corolla Altis and Sonia a Civic Reborn
Pictures and more details later.
