It's time influential folks interested in racing/cars/bikes in Pak used their influence and set up a track.Racing in the streets is dangerous and should not be encouraged.
The Madras race track was originally set up by the British, but it was moved to this location and the land was donated by the state Govt. to the MMSC by the Chief Minister of TamilNadu at that time , a movie actor turned politician who never stepped into a school!.At the MMSC track office sunday i read about a guy named Dilip Rogger, a local Madras lad who was winning races here but didn't have the money to compete in the Malaysian GP bike circuit. The Chief Minister of nearby Pondicherry on hearing about this lad, released monies from the CM's fund to Dilip Rogger to compete in the Malaysian bike circuit where he is now a star!!.This CM of Pondicherry rides a bike to work everyday, a Royal Enfield Bullet Machismo , not his official car.He is also a rural grassroots politician who has barely passed 6th grade!!.Admission is free to anyone at the Madras race track(sponsorship takes care of everything) and one sees local villagers too attending the races and are enthusiastic as any one else there. They know local racers names as they see then more often and they take care of the place, making sure cattle and other stray animals from the nearby villages don't enter the track grounds!.I was impressed by this synergy between, city and semi-rural , rich and poor, educated and uneducated all together in one place 'cause they loved wheels!.I wish i could have spent a whole day there witnessing all the races!!...
