Planning
The story starts from early September when I did Makra, my buddy left behind from makra trip just because of sickness. So he was eagerly looking for any trek. In early discussion with him I was not ready for another trek in the same month but later on he convinced me with some conditions.
* Trek should be hard n fast.
* Should be unexplored or less explored.
* It should be 1 day trek.
So that we may check the maximum limits of our body fitness, energy level, stamina, patience etc.
So we started planning on it but did not find any interesting trek which meets our criteria. We had to compromise on our criteria and finally selected Naran to Mahandri route via Aansoo Lake.
Although it was very very tough and nearly impossible to complete it in a day but we were still trying to make the plan without using Jeep on either side of the route (mujhy pta hai aap log ye parh kr mera mazaq uraa rahy hon ge
).
In a meanwhile Rashid bhai @emmaar saw my comment on PW about unknown trek plan and immediately contacted me and said to me to count him if trek is for 2, 3 days. He asked me about my plan. I explained him the trek details and after some chit chat including the facts n figures (total distance, altitude and approx. time taken etc.), he rejected this plan and gave me these two suggestions.
1-Naran to Behari via Ansoo lake on foot. Behari to Mahandri on Jeep
2-Naran to Saiful malook on Jeep. Rest on foot.
Me and my buddy Usman were happy that an experienced trekker will be with us :). But at the end we missed him due to mismatch in our schedules :(. So we finalized our planning and choose these days 13,14,15 September (last weekend).
On Friday we called Mr. Naveed of Paramount Adventure Club to hire a guide. He told us that now a days there is police/commandoes just after Saiful malook and they do not allow any body to go towards Ansoo lake and Mr. Naveed did not know the reason behind it (we heard the same story from several people while going mansehra to Naran). He advised us to attempt Ansoo lake from Lamba Naka (newly discovered place by Paramount, unseen from trekkers but known for locals). Although Paramount's team or any other trekker did not attempt this trek before and Mr. Naveed had the info only up to Lamba Naka. The rest of the trek up to Manoor valley was also unseen for our Guide. Any how, After seeing google earth?s Aerial and detailed views, we decided to do this trek. New plan was fulfilling our requirements :).
Final Plan
Our estimated time to reach Naran was 1: 00 - 1: 30 PM on Saturday 14th September. So final plan was to take start from Batal bridge (which is some 3.5km before Naran) at 3: 00pm and overnight camping on Lamba Naka or as high as possible. Next day we had to attempt the pass (unnamed) and try for Ansoo lake and then descend to Behari via Dhair meadows. If Ansoo lake try will not be successful then we will descend to Manoor valley.
So the final plan was;
Batal --> Lamba Naka --> Manoor mount range --> Ansoo --> Dhair --> Behari.
And backup plan was;
Batal --> Lamba Naka --> Manoor mount range --> Manoor valley --> Behari.
