Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

    im using alto;s dry coil..
do i need this resistance too???
plus my battery gets dry even ive changed it with volta dry one..
the belt of generator is lose, can this cause battery charge to exit???do tightness is tht necessary???ive chkd n there is no current leak wen car is off..
tht by disconnecting the negative terminal n then connecting a bulb with wires.ithe bulb did not glow meaning no circuit was complete wen car is off..
kindly tell about if generator belt can cause this??

Well I think the hickup problem is also an electrical issue. Loose belt or some oil from the dip stick on the generator pulley can cause it to slip under the belt thus not generating/charging at optimal level therefore battery remains undercharged thus the charging does not cuts off and the electrolyte slowly dries up.

get your alternator checked from a good mechanic with full load i.e. ac, lights etc. and do tighten the belt at the recommended tension.

I am not sure where will the resistance be place in the circuit.
Lets wait for daniyalahmad to explain the location of the resistance in ignition coil circuit.

the resistor is placed on the positive pole of the ignition coil - only needed if you are planning to run a low impedance coil (ND red hat one)

Can you pls tell the impedance of normal coil and that of low impedance coil?
How much ohm resistance is to be connected in series of the coil?

I am using the same coil without resistance and no problems, but there is a small black cube like thing attached on the coil with no wires (i think they were there before ). i can also see that thing in ur 2nd picture underneath the resistance.

    What is that?

does having this resistance connected to the +ve of the coil have the same effect as using spark plugs with resistors?

In my car's user manual it is recommended to use short reach plugs with resistors while right now im using long reach plugs without resistors. Long reach i understand do give better performance in carby cars, but whats the use of having plugs with resistors here? My car does jerk when at specific engine+ambient temperature...

The resistance was put to control any unwanted current/extra current which seemed to be the cause of these jerks.
Moreover it also results in the safety of the coil.
This black cube was already there but I dont know what is it and whats its use.

I got my car,s carburettor changed and added this resistance with the coil and there is a noticable difference now.
    No jerking etc.
The engine shakes a bit on cold startup but gets much better after 5 minutes.

the little black thing is the capacitor (condenser in easy language) its used to cancel out noise in the ignition circuit (the one you get in your radio)

the reason a resistor is used is to limit current draw of the coil, because a low amp circuit can be easily switched by the ignitor in the distributor as compared to a high amp circuit (without resistor)..

you need to hookup that capacitor too - it helps in killing stray voltage spikes and also protects the ignitor from failing (on a khyber with electronic ignition its usually connected to a positive and a negative) and its usually a 0.47 uf bipolar capacitor (I connect these to radiator fan circuits too (helps in protecting the relay contacts and stray noises also)
